3 Players to Sell High in Fantasy Football Entering Week 5

Fantasy Sell High Candidates at a Glance
- Javonte Williams, RB, Dallas Cowboys
- Ashton Jeanty, RB, Las Vegas Raiders
- Garrett Wilson, WR, New York Jets
There are plenty of roster decisions that need to be made each week in fantasy football, including potential trades.
On one hand, it can be extremely beneficial to buy-low on a certain player via trade before they see a positive change in usage or experience a breakout performance. And on the opposite end of the spectrum, there are also players to consider trading away while their value is potentially at its peak.
With last week in the books, which players should we consider selling-high in fantasy football before this week's games take place?

Sell High Candidates in Fantasy Football
Javonte Williams, RB, Dallas Cowboys
Javonte Williams is coming off his biggest fantasy performance of the season, rushing 19 times for 62 yards and three touchdowns against Houston. That gives him five rushing touchdowns through four games despite averaging only 57.8 rushing yards per game, so a sizable portion of his fantasy value has come from finding the end zone.
The workload remains good enough to keep Williams in the RB2 conversation, but three-touchdown games obviously aren't something we can count on. If another manager views him as a locked-in RB1 following Week 4, this is a good opportunity to see what you can get.
Ashton Jeanty, RB, Las Vegas Raiders
Ashton Jeanty has averaged better than 18 PPR points per game, so there should still be plenty of enthusiasm around him on the trade market. He totaled 126 scrimmage yards against Kansas City in Week 4, but 68 of those yards came through the air, and he's yet to score a rushing touchdown this season.
The Las Vegas Raiders have also begun mixing Mike Washington and Dylan Laube into the backfield, creating at least some concern about whether Jeanty will maintain a true three-down role all year.
Jeanty is still a very good fantasy asset, but if you can trade him at an elite RB1 valuation, I'd be willing to make that move.
Garrett Wilson, WR, New York Jets
Garrett Wilson is a different kind of sell-high candidate because you're selling his season-long production rather than a monster Week 4.
He's still averaging 15.8 PPR points and 7.8 targets per game, but the New York Jets' passing environment carries significant downside after Geno Smith attempted only 15 passes in Sunday's loss to Chicago. Wilson finished that game with just 3 catches for 27 yards on 4 targets, and he's produced 270 receiving yards and two touchdowns through four games.
His 28.2% target share is excellent, and we know he’s a good player, so I wouldn't give him away for anything less than a back-end WR1/high-end WR2 valuation. But the combination of limited overall passing volume and modest touchdown opportunities makes him someone I'd consider moving.
Fantasy Football Sell-High Candidates FAQ
What does "sell high" mean in fantasy football?
Selling high means trading a player when their perceived fantasy value may be greater than their expected value going forward. This often happens after a player posts a big game, scores multiple touchdowns, or benefits from an unusually favorable matchup.
When should you sell high on a fantasy football player?
The best time to sell high is typically after a strong performance that could be difficult to repeat. Fantasy managers should consider factors such as playing time, touches, targets, touchdown dependency, upcoming matchups, and competition for opportunities before deciding whether a player's production is sustainable.
Should you always trade a sell-high candidate?
No. Identifying someone as a sell-high candidate doesn't necessarily mean you should trade that player at any cost. The goal is to take advantage of elevated trade value, so it makes sense to hold unless another manager is willing to offer what you deem to be a worthwhile return.
What should you look for in a sell-high fantasy football candidate?
Potential sell-high candidates can include players whose fantasy production significantly exceeds their underlying usage. A high touchdown rate, limited snap share, low target volume, declining workload, or an upcoming stretch of difficult matchups can all be reasons to explore a trade.
