Despite having Jimmy Garoppolo under contract, the San Francisco 49ers traded up in the 2021 NFL Draft to select QB Trey Lance. A guy viewed as a project but with a limitless ceiling, no one really knew what to expect from Lance right out of the gate.

According to Niners wideout Mohamed Sanu, the rookie looks like he's going to fit in just fine.

“The thing about Trey is he’s a very hard working kid. He listens. Very diligent. He’s the type of kid that puts in the extra work. I just love his energy. You can tell the way he comes in the room and has so much charisma, and he just has that ‘it factor.’

Those are the type of traits you want to see out of a quarterback whether he's your starter or a developmental player. The "it factor" is something you can't really describe, but players know it when they see it.

Considering Sanu has caught passes from both Matt Ryan and Matt Stafford, two very successful statistical quarterbacks, he should have a good eye for what quality QB play at this level looks like.

Early signs from Lance seem to be really positive across the board, and it might not be long before Niners fans are clamoring to see what he can do on the field when games count.
