One of the more highly anticipated position battles to watch during NFL training camp this summer will be between San Francisco 49ers quarterbacks Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance. Well, it seems like the rookie first-round pick has been getting a lot of hype from starting tight end George Kittle.

Hearing that sort of praise from one of the best offensive skill players on the team has to be encouraging for Lance. Kittle is no joke as he has racked up 1,687 receiving yards on 133 receptions and scored 7 touchdowns since the start of the 2019 season (22 games played).
Lance has exceptional dual-threat capabilities and his upside was a major reason the 49ers selected him with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He posted 2,947 passing yards as well as 1,325 rushing yards in 19 games played at North Dakota State. The young QB also accounted for a total of 48 touchdowns during his college career.
However, Lance is expected to take on a backup role during his rookie season and learn behind the projected starter in Garoppolo. The 29-year-old gunslinger has 22-8 career record as San Francisco's starting QB and took the team to a Super Bowl the last time he played all 16 games.
No matter what happens in training camp, it seems like Kittle is just as excited as 49ers fans are about what this team could look like with Lance running the offense. San Francisco heads into the fall with the fourth-best odds to take home the Lombardi Trophy at +1300, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
