Timberwolves vs. Nuggets: Series Prediction, Betting Odds, Player Props

The West is gearing up for must-see conference semifinal collisions. After sweeping the New Orleans Pelicans, the Oklahoma City Thunder await the victor of the Dallas Mavericks against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets will also meet in a Titanic-sized clash. Denver-Minnesota will likely be the most anticipated matchup among all conference semifinal contests.

What makes the Timberwolves-Nuggets series must-see TV? numberFire's nERD-based power rankings say enough -- with both teams ranking among the top four best squads in the Association. Each team showed off its potential in the first round as Minnesota swept the Phoenix Suns while Denver topped the Los Angeles Lakers, 4-1.

The head-to-head matchups of the 2024 season only increases the anticipation as the two squads split four games in the regular season. The fight for the 1 seed in the Western Conference was a revolving door between the Thunder, Timberwolves, and Nuggets for most of the season.

In short, Minnesota and Denver are two of the best teams in the league, and this should be a heck of a series.

The stakes are about as high as you could ask for in this Western Conference clash that tips off on Saturday. Let's look at the various NBA playoff series odds offered by FanDuel Sportsbook and break down the matchup before it gets underway.

Timberwolves vs. Nuggets Analysis

The Western Conference currently holds three of the four teams with the shortest odds to win the NBA championship. You probably guessed it; the T-Wolves (+850) and Nuggets (+260) are among the NBA Finals favorites. Minnesota has the third-shortest odds while Denver carries the second-shortest.

Two of the top three options to win the NBA Finals colliding in the conference semifinals? Not bad, not bad at all.

The star power is certainly there (in bulk). Nikola Jokic continues to put up silly numbers with 28.2 points per game (PPG), 16.2 rebounds per game (RPG), and 9.8 assists per game (APG) in the postseason. Anthony Edwards is doing his part in the playoffs, averaging 31.0 PPG, 8.0 RPG, and 6.3 APG. Jokic and Edwards seem on track to be the new faces of the league. The stars will be out for this series.

Pretty much every area of the court should feature intriguing matchups. The backcourt will have Jamal Murray facing off with Mike Conley and Edwards. The frontcourt will feature Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns trying to find ways to slow Jokic. The wing matchup between Jaden McDaniels and Michael Porter Jr. could prove to be the X-factor of the series.

Porter has increased his regular-season scoring average of 16.7 PPG to 22.8 PPG so far in the playoffs. McDaniels has logged 14.3 PPG in the postseason compared to 10.5 PPG during the regular season. The improvements of both players have been a major factor in each team's success.

Buckle up -- this series seems bound to deliver.

In the regular season, the team that won the rebounding battle emerged victorious from three of four matchups. Additionally, the squad that finished with the better three-point percentage won all four clashes. Along with the wing matchup between Porter and McDaniels, rebounding and three-point shooting should play a huge role in this series.
