NHL Daily Fantasy Picks and Helper: Monday 2/12/24

NHL DFS is similar to MLB in terms of how you build lineups, how you view stacking, and how to value players.

Two main points to always focus on in NHL DFS are what lines the players are on and making sure the goalies you are rostering are confirmed as the starters.

Two of the best resources for that are LeftWingLock.com and DailyFaceOff.com. That is where you can find updated forward and power-play lines for each team, along with which goalies are confirmed as the starters.

Using our projections -- which are powered by numberFire -- as a guide, let's take a look at today's slate to find a goalie, some stacks, and value plays for your NHL DFS lineups on FanDuel.

NHL DFS Picks

Goalie to Target

Adin Hill, Golden Knights ($8,300)

Last year's playoff hero is proving he was no fluke. Adin Hill ($8,300) has been excellent in his first season as the starter for the Vegas Golden Knights.

Hill has been the best goalie in the league by some measures. He leads the league in goals saved above expected (GSAx) per 60 minutes, according to Moneypuck.com.

He missed some time due to injury, but he's played great since returning. Hill has allowed two goals or fewer in his four starts after coming back, all of them being wins.

The Golden Knights will face the Minnesota Wild at home tonight. Minnesota averages the ninth-fewest expected goals (xG) per 60 minutes in the league.

Vegas is a -146 favorite tonight, and the Wild have the second-lowest implied team total on the slate at 2.56 goals. Hill should be a fairly safe option for us at the goalie position.

Stacks

New Jersey Devils

The New Jersey Devils are in a fight for their lives to make the playoffs, with poor goaltending sinking them for most of the season.

Luckily, they got their star Jack Hughes ($9,200) back into the lineup last week. Hughes is fifth in the NHL in points per game with 1.32. His main stacking partner is Tyler Toffoli ($5,900). Toffoli leads the Devils in goals with 21 and plays on the first power-play unit with Hughes. That makes his salary a bargain.

The other member of this line is Erik Haula ($5,200), who hasn't produced as much as his linemates but has an affordable salary. This keeps the total salary for the stack down to something pretty reasonable.

New Jersey is at home against the Seattle Kraken tonight. The Devils have the second-highest implied team total on Monday (3.46 goals) and will likely be able to score through this line.

Jack's brother, Luke Hughes ($4,800), also makes for a good stacking partner for extra power-play correlation.

Philadelphia Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers are one of the surprise teams in the NHL this season. They are third in the Metropolitan Division, and a playoff spot is there for the taking.

They haven't always been the most fantasy-friendly team, but they have a nice stack we can roster tonight. Leading scorer Travis Konecny ($7,100) is playing on the first line with Owen Tippett ($6,900) and Sean Couturier ($5,900). These guys all link up on the first power play, as well.

Konency is one of the more underrated players in the NHL. He has 24 goals this season after having 31 in just 60 games last season. Tippett has chipped in with 18 goals, good for second on the team. Couturier is fourth on the team in points with 32 after essentially missing the previous two seasons.

The Arizona Coyotes will make their way to Philly to face the Flyers. Arizona is in the bottom 10 in xG against, scoring chances against, and high-danger chances against on a per-60-minute basis.

Arizona will be starting Karel Vejmelka in goal, a downgrade from Connor Ingram based on this season's numbers. Vejmelka has allowed -.106 GSAx per 60 minutes this year.

This Flyers stack is in a prime position to have a big night, and it may go a bit under the radar compared to some other teams on the slate.

Value Skaters

Tomas Tatar, W, Krakaen ($4,000)

We've finally seen Tomas Tatar ($4,000) get a salary that's above the $3,000 range, but he still makes for a good value play. He scored a goal on Saturday and has a chance for some revenge against his former team.

Tatar started the season with the Colorado Avalanche before being moved to the Kraken. In 20 games with Seattle, he has six goals and five assists. He'll play on the first line with good linemates in Matty Beniers and Jordan Eberle, both of whom are not shoot-first players. They're more likely to try to set up Tatar rather than score themselves.

We don't want to shy away from playing guys against the Devils -- the opposite in fact. They've allowed the fourth-most goals per game this season. That makes Tatar a great value option in a matchup we can target.

Chandler Stephenson, C, Golden Knights ($4,800)

Chandler Stephenson ($4,800) isn't quite having the same season as he did in the last two years, but he's starting to pick things up.

Stephenson has scored in each of the last two games and now has a great role playing with Mark Stone at both even strength and on the power play. The Golden Knights are still without Jack Eichel, making Stephenson the de facto number one center.

This matchup against the Wild is a good one. Minnesota has allowed the 10th-most goals per game and is without number one defenseman Jared Spurgeon for the rest of the season.

We could see Stephenson extend his goal-scoring streak in this game.
