NHL Daily Fantasy Picks and Helper: Monday 11/27/23

NHL DFS is similar to MLB in terms of how you build lineups, how you view stacking, and how to value players.

Two main points to always focus on in NHL DFS are what lines the players are on and making sure the goalies you are rostering are confirmed as the starters.

Two of the best resources for that are LeftWingLock.com and DailyFaceOff.com. That is where you can find updated forward and power-play lines for each team, along with which goalies are confirmed as the starters.

Let's jump in and take a look at today's slate, find a goalie, some stacks, and some value plays for your NHL DFS lineups on FanDuel.

NHL DFS Picks

Goalie to Target

Adin Hill, Vegas Golden Knights ($8,500)

The run that Adin Hill has been on since the playoffs last season doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon.

Hill has been the best goalie in the NHL through the first quarter of the season. He leads the league in the two major categories, sporting a 1.97 goals against average (GAA) and .932 save percentage. The dominance has him as one of the NHL's most valuable goalies. He has saved 10.11 goals above expectation (GSAx), ranking 3rd in the league.

Hill and the Vegas Golden Knights have an ideal matchup tonight, taking on the Calgary Flames. The Flames haven't been able to turn their opportunities into goals -- that's good news for any goaltender you'd consider in daily fantasy.

Calgary has a 63.4 Corsi For (Total Shot Attempts Created) per 60 minutes, good for 8th in the NHL. Despite the high number of chances, they're only averaging 2.91 Goals For per 60 minutes. The mark ranks 21st in the league, giving Hill all the room to post a great game tonight.

Hill is projected for the second-most points of the night, per numberFire's model, and is expected to finish with 20.9 FanDuel points.

Stacks

Boston Bruins

The Boston Bruins are riding their first rough period of the season.

They've lost back-to-back games, allowing 12 goals in two games, but they have been able to score 6 goals in their own right. That's the one positive from their recent trend because we're looking to stack their offense tonight.

Boston's offense only has a 58.85 Corsi For on the campaign, leaving them 20th in the NHL. It's not a number that jumps off the page, but they've made the most of their limited numbers by averaging 3.36 Goals For per 60 minutes, ranking as the 11th-best.

The excitement for stacking the Black and Gold tonight comes in the form of a struggling Columbus Blue Jackets team. Few teams have been as bad defensively as the Blue Jackets. Columbus is 30th in the NHL with a 68.84 Corsi Against (Total Shot Attempts Allowed) per 60 minutes and is allowing the 8th-most Goals Against (3.41).

The Blue Jackets are expected to start Spencer Martin in net. Martin is 1-5-1 while allowing 3.37 goals per game and having a sub-.900 save percentage (.898). It's another reason to believe in the Bruins.

When it comes to stacking the Bruins' offense, you want to make sure you run with their top, most consistent line. David Pastrnak ($10,400) is tied for the best projection of tonight (21.8 points) while Brad Marchand ($8,700) and Pavel Zacha ($6,000) offer good support. All three players are also on the top power-play unit for Boston, giving them all the opportunities they need to make it count.

New York Rangers

Perhaps the best team in the NHL, the New York Rangers are red-hot after winning seven of their last eight games. Keep riding with them tonight, no problem.

Over their last nine games, the Rangers' offense has scored three goals or more eight times. They're only sporting a 58.27 Corsi For but are scoring 3.37 goals per 60 minutes -- similar to the Bruins in both respects.

Taking on the Buffalo Sabres, there should be plenty of chances to pot the goals we're looking for with an offensive stack. The Sabres rank 15th in both a Corsi Against (60.89) and goals allowed per 60 minutes (3.31). Ranking in the middle of the NHL in each respect should give New York plenty of room to make them pay.

Heading into tonight, the Rangers have the second-best implied total (3.81), per numberFire's heat map.

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen will be in net for the Sabres. While he's had a strong run with a 2.71 GAA and .914 save percentage, it shouldn't be difficult to beat him after posting a 3.61 GAA a year ago. The Rangers scored 10 goals in their last two games, giving them the momentum needed to do more tonight.

When stacking the Rangers' lineup, the top two line duos of Chris Kreider ($7,800) and Mika Zibanejad ($5,700) as well as Artemi Panarin ($10,300) and Vincent Trocheck ($6,700) are the best bets. All four play big minutes and are on the first power-play line for New York.

Value Skaters

Mika Zibanejad, C, New York Rangers ($5,700)

As noted above, Mika Zibanejad is a good stack option, but he's even better if you're looking for a value skater.

Zibanejed has 4 goals, 10 assists, and 14 points in 19 games this season while racking up 4 points over his last three outings. The Rangers' center is averaging a strong 19:41 of time on ice thanks to his top line minutes and playing on the first power-play unit. He's also averaging 2.74 shots per game, giving us the belief he can notch a goal later tonight.

numberFire believes in Zibanejad for the six-game slate, projecting him for 15.2 FanDuel points.

Evgeny Kuznetsov, C, Washington Capitals ($5,300)

Evgeny Kuznetsov has an elite role and plays top-of-the-line minutes, giving us all the confidence to run him as a value against the San Jose Sharks.

The Washington Capitals' center averages the fifth-highest average of time on ice at 21:37 -- a career-high for him. He's recorded three goals, five assists, and eight points over his first 15 games this season. That's not a surprising total seeing that the Capitals have struggled to put together much scoring. The good news, however, is that the Sharks are so bad defensively that it should lead to plenty of chances for Kuznetsov and Washington.

San Jose allows a 73.13 Corsi Against and 4.11 Goals Against, ranking the worst in both categories. Centering both the top line and first power play gives Kuznetsov the opportunity to get in the box score.

Kuznetsov is projected for 12.3 FanDuel points.
