Inter Miami has confirmed that Lionel Messi will make his club debut for the MLS side on Friday, July 21st.

It will be a monumental occasion for soccer in the United States, and there is a massive demand for tickets for the clash. It's pretty safe to say "Messi Mania" is in full swing.

In Friday's match, Messi's Inter Miami will play host to Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup, which is an annual competition between the MLS and Mexico's League, LIGA MX.

The 2022 World Cup winner and former Barcelona star won't have a chance to make his MLS debut until August 20th. That will be another home match for Inter Miami, this time versus Charlotte FC.

Inter Miami are currently languishing in the MLS standings, sitting last in the Eastern Conference with a mere 18 points from 22 matches played. They are about to get a big upgrade in talent with not only Messi but also Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba -- two of Messi's former Barcelona teammates -- joining the squad.

Despite their poor start to the season, Inter Miami are getting respect in the betting market. Messi is +5000 to be the league's top scorer, odds that reflect him already missing 22 matches in the MLS's 34-match regular season.
