Daily Strikeout Leader: It's a Wide-Open Market on Friday

Each day on FanDuel Sportsbook, there is no shortage of MLB odds to sift through, and you're likely familiar with a lot of them. That includes strikeout props, which are entertaining because they add importance to each pitch.

FanDuel Sportsbook has cranked that up a few notches with its daily strikeout leader market. Not only do you need your guys to rack up Ks -- you need them to get more punchouts than any of the day's other starting pitchers.

Here are today's odds in that market along with some key strikeout numbers -- including strikeouts per start (K/Start), strikeout rate (K%), and called-strike-plus-whiff rate (CSW%).

The Top of the Heap

This market is wide open today, and that makes things pretty fun. You can make a strong case for any of the pitchers listed shorter than +1000. Among those guys, Aaron Nola (+450) and Reid Detmers (+550) have my attention.

Nola has a fantastic matchup versus the Kansas City Royals, a team that owns the ninth-highest strikeout rate (23.8%) and third-worst wOBA (.295). Nola has been a bit off this season, but his strikeout rate at home is 27.1%. He's capable of dominating in this matchup.

Detmers is at home against the Seattle Mariners. Seattle is a great team to pick on in this market as they sport the second-highest K rate (26.2%). Detmers has made a big jump this season, recording a 29.3% strikeout rate and 13.6% swinging-strike rate. He's punched out at least eight in six of his past nine starts.

Digging Deeper

James Paxton (+1500) checks a few boxes among those with longer odds. The matchup is not one of them, as he's hosting the Toronto Blue Jays, a team that carries the sixth-lowest strikeout rate (21.1%). Despite the difficult matchup, Paxton deserves to be on our radar as he's shown stellar swing-and-miss stuff, boasting a 28.4% strikeout rate and 13.3% swinging-strike rate.

The matchup is there for Logan Allen (+2600), though, as he gets the Chicago White Sox. Chicago has the 10th-highest strikeout rate (23.7%). Allen -- the owner of a 23.1% strikeout rate and 11.4% swinging strike rate -- has displayed solid strikeout ability. The biggest issue for him is workload because he's worked past five innings just twice over his last six starts, although those two instances have come in his past two appearances.

Bobby Miller (+4100) stands out at a big number. The stuff is pretty good -- his average fastball velocity is 99 MPH, and the rookie has a 23.8% strikeout rate. On the negative, he's yet to work past six innings in any start, and a date with the San Diego Padres (10th-lowest strikeout rate) is a rough one.
