5 Key Players Returning From Injury During the 2023-24 Season

Ready to satisfy your appetite for college hoops?

Check below for our list of five key players returning from injury during the 2023-24 college basketball season. In no particular order:

Graham Ike, Gonzaga

The 6-9 Ike was the Mountain West Preseason Player of the Year prior to last season when he was at Wyoming, but a leg injury kept him out for the duration of 2022-23. Now at Gonzaga, he'll be the Bulldogs’ interior focal point post-Drew Timme. Ike averaged 19.5 points and 9.6 rebounds two years ago at Wyoming when the Cowboys reached the 2022 NCAA Tournament.

Dylan Disu, Texas

Disu averaged 22.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in two NCAA Tournament games last spring prior to injuring his foot. If he’s back fully healthy this season, he’s got the requisites to be a First-Team All-Big 12 caliber player. A school spokesman told FanDuel on Thursday that Disu still has no timetable for when he’ll be fully cleared for all basketball-related activities.

Trevon Brazile, Arkansas

Eric Musselman told FanDuel on Thursday that Brazile will be available for Saturday’s charity exhibition against Purdue. That’s great news for the Razorbacks. Many are high on the 6-9 Brazile, who was just recently fully cleared after averaging 11.8 points and 6.0 rebounds in nine games last season prior to suffering a knee injury.

Tolu Smith, Mississippi State

The Bulldogs return more than 80 percent of their scoring from last season’s team that reached the NCAA Tournament, but they won’t have Smith back in the fold until mid-January due to a foot injury. Can Mississippi State keep things afloat without him? That's to be determined. The 6-11 Smith averaged 15.7 points and 8.5 rebounds last season.

Xavier Johnson, Indiana

Mike Woodson had planned to play both Johnson and Jalen Hood-Schifino together in the Hoosiers' backcourt last season, but that plan was scrapped when Johnson was lost for the year after just 11 games due to a foot injury. With Hood-Schifino now in the NBA, Johnson’s return is critical if Indiana is going to return to the NCAA Tournament in 2024. Johnson averaged 9.9 points and 4.9 assists in limited action a year ago.
