3 MLB Player Prop Bets to Target on Tuesday 9/12/23

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some MLB player props bets that look appealing.

Please note that betting lines and numberFire's game projections may change throughout the day after this article is published. Also, the weather may be an issue in some locations.

Cody Bellinger To Hit a Home Run (+400)

The Chicago Cubs have a massive 6.72 implied run total tonight as they visit the best park for offense in the league, Coors Field.

Cody Bellinger has a home run prop sitting at +400, and frankly, I was a bit shocked to see it this high. He's been great this year, and given this game is at Coors Field, I expected this number to be a bit lower, but we'll take it.

Bellinger comes in with a 127 wRC+, .358 wOBA, .219 ISO, 46.0% fly-ball rate, and 14.0% HR/FB ratio versus right-handed pitchers. He has hit 16 of his 25 home runs in this split, a clear sign we should be targeting him tonight.

He will be up against Chris Flexen, who has allowed a .374 wOBA, .507 SLG, 1.72 HR/9, 32.7% hard-contact rate, and 19.4% HR/FB ratio versus lefties this season.

The Cubs are expected to put up plenty of runs tonight and are a great offense to get a bit of exposure to. As usual, I'll look to add Bellinger To Record an RBI (-130), too.

Jose Altuve To Record 2+ Total Bases (-110)

The Houston Astros' offense laid an egg yesterday but has a favorable matchup to get back on track tonight.

A 5.26 implied run total is certainly very strong, and if they are going to be scoring runs, they will be getting runners on base. We can capture that production via some total base props, so let's start with Jose Altuve.

He's as consistent as they come versus southpaws, recording a a 144 wRC+, .380 wOBA, .318 BABIP, .205 ISO, 14.6% strikeout rate, and 36.4% fly-ball rate in the split. That low strikeout rate is great to see and means he isn't wasting chances at the plate, always looking to put the ball in play.

Altuve will see JP Sears on the mound for the Oakland Athletics, which presents a great matchup. This season, Sears has allowed a .320 wOBA, .449 SLG, 5.02 xFIP, 1.80 HR/9, and 55.6% fly-ball rate versus right-handed hitters.

Those are some rough numbers to have going up against a strong Astros lineup, and Altuve should be front and center tonight.

Francisco Lindor To Record 2+ Total Bases (+105)

The New York Mets are hosting the Arizona Diamondbacks where the over/under is set at 10.0.

A high over/under is always a great sign to see when we are targeting player props, so let's jump in.

The D-Backs will have Ryne Nelson on the bump, giving us an enticing pitcher for some props. Nelson simply hasn't put it all together at the MLB level, coming in with a .366 wOBA, .517 SLG, 13.8% strikeout rate, 10.5% walk rate, .300 BABIP, 5.68 xFIP, 1.14 HR/9, 41.5% fly-ball rate, and 34.6% hard-contact rate allowed to lefties this season.

The list goes on and on for Nelson, and none of it is good. Well, it's good for opposing hitters, and that leads us to Francisco Lindor.

Lindor is rocking a 111 wRC+, .330 wOBA, .287 BABIP, .184 ISO, 46.0% fly-ball rate, and 33.3% hard-contact rate versus righties this season. It's all good news for Lindor, who's in a great spot to pick up two bases on Tuesday.
