3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for Tuesday 8/1/23

Subscribe to our newsletter

Stacking is an integral part of daily fantasy baseball. Correlation drives upside, giving your lineups a slate-winning ceiling when your stacks explode.

This piece will do the digging and the dirty work each day to determine which stacks are worth rostering on FanDuel's main slate. While we want upside, we also need to factor in game theory, especially in a sport as random as baseball.

The MLB DFS heat map at numberFire is a quick way to get a feel for the overall slate and which offenses are in a good spot. You can also check out numberFire's daily fantasy baseball projections to identify the slate's best bats.

Let's look at the top stacks for this small main slate. We won't touch on the Coors Field game today. The Colorado Rockies and San Diego Padres have two of the night's top implied totals, but you don't need to be told that Coors is worth taking advantage of in DFS lineups.

Atlanta Braves

Implied Total: 5.39 | Opposing Pitcher: Patrick Sandoval

Another day, another slate where we want to stack the Atlanta Braves.

Atlanta is coming off a game where they struggled -- finishing with just one run -- despite a high implied total. It's hard to believe that will happen again.

The Braves enter the day with the best implied total among non-Coors teams at a 5.39 mark. That number comes against Los Angeles Angels probable starter Patrick Sandoval. The left-hander hasn't been good this season, and he has a 4.71 SIERA to prove it. It can be a day for the Braves to smash.

When it comes to stacking Atlanta, you have to look to Ronald Acuna ($4,700) as your starting point. The Braves' outfielder is the highest-salaried batter on the day. His career-high .421 wOBA goes well with his 24 home runs and 51 (!) stolen bases. You want him in your lineups as numberFire has him projected for 15.1 FanDuel points.

With how loaded the Braves are, there are plenty of other quality options to check out. Consider Matt Olson ($4,300), Ozzie Albies ($3,900), Austin Riley ($3,900), Sean Murphy ($3,600), and Michael Harris II ($3,100) to fill out your stacks. Any of those first three options is more than ideal as they're higher up in the lineup.

New York Mets

Implied Total: 5.18 | Opposing Pitcher: Zack Greinke

The New York Mets haven't always had their way this season, but there's no doubt they still have a talented lineup capable of doing damage.

The Mets' implied total of 5.18 is the second-best on the night, and that comes at the hands of Zack Greinke, who is struggling. Greinke is sporting a 5.49 ERA, 5.06 FIP, 4.63 SIERA, and a low 15.5% strikeout rate. He's allowed four runs or more in three of his last five starts.

Francisco Lindor ($3,800) makes all the sense for DFS players as he enters the game with back-to-back nights of home runs, looking to make it three in a row. His season line includes a .228 ISO and .338 wOBA, which are respectable marks. He can kick off any Mets stack.

Another option to look to is Tommy Pham ($2,900), who is the highest projected member of the lineup -- according to numberFire -- at 15.2 FanDuel points on the night.

To fill out the rest of your lineup and make it a three or four-batter stack, consider Pete Alonso ($4,200), Brandon Nimmo ($3,300), and Francisco Alvarez ($3,200). Dan Vogelbach ($2,500) is a solid value target, too.

Texas Rangers

Implied Total: 5.15 | Opposing Pitcher: Jesse Scholtens

The Texas Rangers are coming off a tough stretch over the weekend, but a series against the Chicago White Sox is an opportunity to get back on track.

Texas was all about making noise over the weekend as they traded for Max Scherzer and Jordan Montgomery in separate deals -- two moves that had an impact on their betting odds. But all the while, they dropped three games against the San Diego Padres. So, why should Texas be considered for stacking today? Because Jesse Scholtens is a guy for the Rangers to take deep.

Scholtens has mostly been a reliever this season for the White Sox, but he does have two spot starts where he has gone four-plus innings. In those starts, the 29-year-old has given up 15 hits over 8 2/3 innings with just four strikeouts. The Rangers can rake in this matchup.

Even with Texas' recent struggles, the Rangers still have the second-best wOBA in baseball at .345.

With Corey Seager still dealing with a thumb injury, the top option from Texas will be Adolis Garcia ($3,600), who numberFire has projected for 13.2 FanDuel points. Garcia has been a free swinger but a devastating one as he's got 25 homers and 84 RBI so far this season.

Some other options to join Garcia in a stack are Marcus Semien ($3,700), Nathaniel Lowe ($3,300), Josh Jung ($3,100), Leody Taveras ($3,100), and Ezequiel Duran ($2,900).

The 5.27 implied total should have you excited about what this offense can deliver tonight.
