With Super Bowl LV behind us, the attention of the NFL world turns ahead to the 2021 offseason. Free agency will come first, but the marquee event is always the NFL Draft.

ESPN expert Todd McShay has released his first post-Super Bowl mock draft, and it includes some serious surprises.

One of the biggest is what he projects for the Chicago Bears.

Chicago Bears Mock Draft

Todd McShay projects the Bears to trade up to No. 12 to select Alabama quarterback Mac Jones.

This move would be a shocker on a few levels.

At this point it's no surprise that the Bears could be in the quarterback market. Mitchell Trubisky is becoming an unrestricted free agent. Nick Foles' huge contract is still on the books, but the Carson Wentz trade buzz shows that the Bears are more than happy to absorb that cost while they add another QB.

But trading up from No. 20 to No. 12 is not going to be cheap. The Bears aren't exactly flush with draft capital (picking No. 20, 52, and 83 as their only selections before the fifth round in 2021). They are also currently projecting to be over the cap in 2021, and they'll need as many inexpensive players (see: rookies) as they can get.

Mac Jones is a solid prospect, but making a huge trade-up to take him No. 12 overall when he's just projected here as the fifth quarterback off the board could be a stretch.

The Bears front office could feel that this is the move they need to make, however. They were a playoff team despite their poor quarterback play this year, and Jones is one of the most pro-ready QB prospects out there. If anyone could step in and keep Chicago in the playoff hunt, it might be the Alabama signal-caller.

The 2021 NFL Draft could be a wild one for Bears fans.
