Red Sox News: Boston Gets Great Chris Sale Injury Update
By Larry Rupp

The AL-East leading Boston Red Sox have pitched to a team ERA of 4.09 so far this season, which ranks No. 13 in the MLB. It looks like the starting rotation could get a boost soon enough given Chris Sale is set to see his first live action since 2019 by going on a rehab assignment.

Chris Sale Injury Update
Sale has been progressing well all season ever since he got Tommy John surgery in the spring of 2020. Reports claim his recent simulated sessions should have fans excited about what he can bring to the team. The seven-time All-Star could be an option for the starting rotation in early August.
The 32-year-old pitcher is set to join the Florida Complex League and then work his way up from there. Manager Alex Cora has already stated that the team would like to see how Sale performs in Double-A and Triple-A before calling him back up. Plus, more of the team medical staff is available at those levels.
Boston fans haven't seen Sale pitch for almost two years and his 2019 season wasn't a very pretty one. However, Sale has posted a 35-23 record to go along with a 3.08 ERA and 0.97 WHIP across three seasons with the Red Sox. He has also racked up 763 strikeouts during that span.
All things considered, Sale's recovery continues to trend in the right direction. Getting him back on the team would simply be the cherry on top for this Red Sox team. Boston currently has the sixth-best odds to win the World Series at +1200, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
