Ravens Give Gus Edwards Big Payday With Contract Extension

The Baltimore Ravens had the best rushing attack of any team in the NFL last year after leading the league with an average of 192.1 yards on the ground per game. Running back Gus Edwards played a key role in the team's success and has now received a big payday because of his play.
Ravens and restricted free-agent running back Gus Edwards reached agreement on a two-year, $10 million contract extension, per his agent @DrewJRosenhaus. Edwards now under contract through 2023 season.

Ravens Sign Gus Edwards
The Ravens signed Edwards to a two-year deal worth $10 million that puts him under contract through the 2023 season. As a restricted free agent, Edwards received a second-round tender back in March worth $3.4 million. He is now locked in as the team's No. 2 option in the backfield.
Edwards is entering his fourth season with the Ravens and has done nothing but produce. In fact, he is one of just two players to ever start their NFL career with three straight seasons of 700 or more rushing yards and an average of at least 5.0 yards per carry (Nick Chubb).
The 26-year-old Edwards was a reliable complementary back to starter J.K. Dobbins last year and posted a career-high 852 yards from scrimmage along with 6 total touchdowns. Overall, he has totaled 2,152 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns over his first 43 games played in the NFL.
All things considered, this is a major payday for a former undrafted free agent like Edwards. Usually backup running backs are not making upwards of $5 million per year. There is no doubt that he has carved out a solid role on this Baltimore offense and that should remain the same moving forward.
