Rangers Get Encouraging Spring Training Update on Jacob deGrom

The Texas Rangers kicked off their Spring Training camp with a small bit of concerning news around newly acquired superstar ace Jacob deGrom. The two-time Cy Young award winner experienced left-side soreness at the onset of camp and the franchise decided to take things slow, not forcing him into live game action for the first week of the spring.
But, things already took a turn for the best.
deGrom said he threw 10 pitches off the half-mound and 13 off the regular mound. All fastballs. Said he felt good. Video coming

Reports on Thursday revealed that deGrom re-began his throwing program with the Rangers. Insider Jared Sandler indicated the four-time All-Star threw about 23 pitches (10 off the half-mound, 13 on the regular mound) and that he "felt good" afterward.
While 23 pitches is a small blip in the radar for deGrom's season ahead, this is promising news no matter what way you look at it. Considering the sheer volume of injuries deGrom dealt with during his time with the New York Mets, Rangers fans will be hanging on the word of every ounce of injury news surrounding their new star.
Let's face it, when deGrom is fully healthy, there's no better pitcher in baseball.
