Raiders Waive Surprising Linebacker After Denzel Perryman and K.J. Wright Additions

NFL teams continue to shuffle their rosters ahead of Week 1 action. The Las Vegas Raiders recently added some new talent after trading for linebacker Denzel Perryman and signing veteran free agent K.J. Wright.
However, another Raiders linebacker has been let go in a surprising move.

Muse was a third-round pick out of Clemson in 2020. Missed his entire rookie season because of a toe injury, but took starter reps throughout camp and was a core special teamer.
The team has waived Tanner Muse, who was in contention for a starting spot during camp. The move has puzzled some since Muse would've been a big part of the special teams unit even if he didn't win starting outside linebacker duties.
Muse was the team's third-round pick 2020, but he missed all of last season due to a toe injury. The Raiders have shown they aren't afraid to cut bait with players this offseason. Letting the Clemson product go before he ever played a regular-season snap for the team certainly reinforces that philosophy.
Las Vegas owns +350 odds to make the playoffs this season, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
