MLB Prop Bets, Picks and Predictions for Today

Dodgers Moneyline (-142)

Dodgers at Braves, 6 p.m. ET

Moneyline

Los Angeles Dodgers
Oct 7 10:00pm UTCMore odds in Sportsbook

The Los Angeles Dodgers can punch their ticket to the NLCS on Wednesday, and I like them to finish off the Atlanta Braves in Game 4.

Los Angeles has the starting-pitching edge with Tyler Glasnow opposing Tyler Mahle. Glasnow finished the regular season with a 3.53 ERA and 34.0% K rate while going 5-2. Mahle, meanwhile, posted a 3.99 ERA but just a 9.7% swinging-strike rate.

There is also a lot to like about what we've seen from Los Angeles in this series. After dropping Game 2, the Dodgers responded with a 3-1 win on Tuesday behind seven strong innings from Yoshinobu Yamamoto. That gives LA a 2-1 series lead and puts its deep pitching staff in position to close things out.

The Dodgers' lineup gives them another advantage. Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Kyle Tucker, Teoscar Hernández, and Max Muncy give Los Angeles a daunting group for Mahle to navigate, and that makes the modest moneyline price appealing.

At -142, I'll back the Dodgers to win Game 4 and advance.

Yankees Moneyline (-158)

Rays at Yankees, 8 p.m. ET

Moneyline

New York Yankees
Oct 8 12:00am UTCMore odds in Sportsbook

The New York Yankees have their backs against the wall after falling behind 2-0 in their ALDS matchup with the Tampa Bay Rays, but Wednesday's pitching matchup gives New York a good chance to extend the series.

Max Fried will get the ball for the Yankees, and he enters with a 2.80 ERA and 24.0% strikeout rate across the regular season. He also delivered in his first postseason appearance, allowing only one run over six innings while posting a 0.67 WHIP.

Tampa Bay will counter with Nick Martinez. Martinez was excellent in his own right this season, recording a 3.10 ERA, so this isn't necessarily an easy matchup for New York's offense. Still, having Fried on the mound at Yankee Stadium is a good foundation for a team playing with its season on the line, and while Martinez’s surface numbers were excellent, he struck out just 15.1% of hitters.

The Yankees haven't helped themselves through the first two games, as offensive struggles, poor baserunning, and defensive mistakes have contributed to the 2-0 hole. But that also leaves some room for improvement if New York simply plays a cleaner game at home.

With Fried getting the start and New York returning home, I'll take the Yankees moneyline.

Christian Yelich 2+ H/R/RBI (+110)

Brewers at Padres, 10 p.m. ET

Player To Record 2+ Hits + Runs + RBIs
Christian Yelich

Christian Yelich has been productive throughout the Milwaukee Brewers‘ NLDS matchup with the San Diego Padres, making his 2+ hits, runs, and RBIs prop appealing for Game 4.

Yelich has recorded four hits, two runs, and one RBI through the first three games of the series, including a two-hit, one-RBI performance Tuesday. Overall, he's reached the 2+ H/R/RBI threshold in two of the Brewers' three postseason games against the Padres.

The matchup also works in his favor against right-hander Walker Buehler. Buehler finished the regular season with a 4.63 ERA, a 9-6 record, and a 20.1% strikeout rate across 153 2/3 innings. His relatively modest strikeout rate should give Yelich opportunities to put the ball in play, and Buehler permitted 150 hits while posting a 1.35 WHIP.

Yelich hit .235 with a .315 on-base percentage during the regular season, but he's picked things up in October, batting .400 through the first three games of this series. With multiple paths to cash this market -- a pair of hits, getting on and scoring, or driving in a run -- from the heart of the Brewers’ lineup, Yelich 2+ H/R/RBI is a prop I like for Wednesday's Game 4.

MLB Betting Frequently Asked Questions

What are MLB player prop bets?

MLB player prop bets are wagers on specific statistical outcomes tied to individual players during a game — not on which team wins or loses. You might bet on how many strikeouts a starting pitcher records, whether a shortstop gets a hit, or how many total bases an outfielder accumulates.

Because they are isolated to a single player's performance, props let you apply focused knowledge about matchups, recent form, and ballpark conditions rather than predicting the full game result.

What types of MLB player props are available?

FanDuel offers a wide menu of MLB props. The most common categories include:

  • Pitcher strikeouts
  • Batter hits
  • Home runs
  • Total bases
  • RBIs
  • Stolen bases
  • Pitcher outs recorded

What does +310 mean on an MLB home run prop bet?

A +310 line means a $100 bet returns $310 in profit if the player homers. You can bet any amount — a $10 bet at +310 returns $31 in profit. The number reflects the implied probability the sportsbook assigns to the event (roughly 24% for +310 odds).

What does "total bases" mean as a prop bet?

The total bases prop counts the bases a batter earns from hits in a single game:

  • Single = 1 base
  • Double = 2 bases
  • Triple = 3 bases
  • Home run = 4 bases

Walks, hit-by-pitches, and stolen bases do not count. A typical total bases line is set at 1.5 or 2.5. Betting over 1.5 means you need at least a double, or two singles.
