The San Diego Padres are in the midst of a tight battle for the second NL Wild Card Spot. Currently tied with the Cincinnati Reds and just one game ahead of the St. Louis Cardinals, but things just got a little tougher for them.

Blake Snell Injury Update

Starting pitcher Blake Snell was pulled from his start on Sunday and diagnosed with left adductor tightness. This is a huge blow to a Padres team that was enjoying some great recent play from Snell.

The severity of the injury is not yet known, but Snell missing any amount of time for the Padres will be a tough pill to swallow.

Snell had only allowed a combined 3 earned runs in his previous three starts prior to Sunday. Seemingly clicking at the right time, Snell's momentum is now stalled, and it could have a similar effect on the team as a whole.

Hopefully Snell can get back healthy before the end of the regular season and into the playoffs if San Diego makes it there. The Padres currently have +3100 odds to win the National League, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's latest MLB odds.
