K.J. Wright Has Concerning Quote on Re-Signing With Seahawks in Free Agency

The Seattle Seahawks have a number of upcoming free agents, including linebacker K.J. Wright. The Mississippi State product has played each of his 10 seasons in Seattle, and it'd be hard to imagine the Seahawks' defense without him.
When asked about possibly taking a discount to help his team out, though, Wright gave a quote that should concern his team.
K.J. Wright wants to stay with Seahawks, but not planning to take hometown discount: "I do way too much on the football field to take a discount"https://t.co/vfXOvlNdYG pic.twitter.com/K6k1dThotg

The linebacker was brutally honest about his value and his expected compensation. For a team that isn't flush with money, it puts the Seahawks in a tough spot to navigate.
"It makes absolutely no sense. If you want to win all these championships and look good on Sundays, you've got to compensate your guys that are making plays. ... I have a family and I'm trying to set up long, long-term success for my family."
- K.J. Wright
Seattle needs to bolster its defense, and getting Wright on a discount to put together a Super Bowl-worthy roster would help. However, he wants the fair share that he's earned, so the team may need to decide between keeping one of its mainstays and making a more well-rounded roster.
And franchise QB Russell Wilson has his own concerns on the offensive side of the ball, so Seattle needs to figure out how to maximize its dollars this offseason.
