Only one running back across the NFL eclipsed Jamaal Williams' Week 1 fantasy performance in PPR leagues. That was Christian McCaffrey, a tailback already playing on a different level than every other back in the league.

This ranking is testament to Williams' brilliant performance and has fantasy managers a tiny bit concerned about the other Detroit Lions running back, D'Andre Swift.

Rest easy, fantasy managers. Taking a deeper dive into the stats reveals that Swift is still the clear-cut No. 1 running back in this offense.

Swift outpaced Williams by multiple metrics including total opportunities (22 to 18) and snap percentage (68% to 35%). While Williams finished with a slightly better Week 1 performance, thanks to 54 rushing yards, 1 rushing touchdown and 8 receptions for 56 yards, this is still Swift's backfield.

The best part of Swift's Week 1 performance was his pass-catching, an area that fantasy managers thought Williams might leak into. Swift still saw more targets (11 to 9) while turning in 8 receptions for 65 receiving yards and 1 touchdown.

The second-year back ranked as RB13 on The Duel's preseason PPR rankings and his status as a very reliable RB2 remains rock solid.

With a breakout performance, Williams' fantasy outlook is also on the rise. No matter what way you spin it, the Lions backfield was impressive in Week 1, especially against a defense like the 49ers.

Williams ranks as RB32 in The Duel's PPR rankings ahead of Week 2. He's a decent FLEX option depending on the matchup and retains amazing handcuff potential to Swift throughout the year. If either of these backs go down, expect an uptick in value for the remaining member of the backfield.
