In a move that puzzled many in the baseball world, the New York Mets traded for Toronto Blue Jays ace Marcus Stroman on July 28, just three days shy of the MLB Trade Deadline. The Mets gave up a few of their top prospects, pitchers Anthony Kay and Simeon Woods-Richardson, in the deal.

Stroman was quick to social media to celebrate the announcement, as the trade will bring him back home to play for a team he grew up watching. Stroman is a native of Patchogue, Long Island, which is 54 miles east of Citi Field.

The trade ruffled some feathers in the media, and among Mets fans, as the team was expected to be strictly a seller at the trade deadline. However, others are viewing the move as a savvy tactic by Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen, in that by removing one of the top starting pitchers from the market, the Mets can demand a higher return for pitchers Zack Wheeler and/or Noah Syndergaard.

No matter what the intentions of the move were, Stroman is coming back home and has the baby photos to prove it. SNY's Twitter account joined in on the fun, adding another Stroman baby photo, albeit sans any Mets paraphernalia.

Stroman is expected to make his first start as a Met sometime this week, as the team will be on the road to face the Chicago White Sox and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
