The Oakland Athletics are one of the surprise stories from the start of the 2021 MLB season. Oakland currently sits atop the AL West with a 37-27 record, and they've gotten to this point without veteran offseason addition Trevor Rosenthal.
A shoulder injury at the start of the year required the reliever to get surgery, but he's making great progress towards a return.

Manager Bob Melvin recently said that Rosenthal is progressing "rapdily" through his strength program, which is great news. His return is still expected to be close to August, but with him ahead of where he's expected to be, perhaps Oakland will get a boost to their bullpen sooner than anticipated.
The 31-year-old sported a 1.90 ERA across 23 2/3 innings pitched in 2020. His return could elevate an Athletics bullpen that currently ranks No. 14 in ERA at 3.87.
