Sierra Leone Horse Trainer and Jockey
Sierra Leone is trained by Chad Brown, who has placed in Triple Crown races numerous times including two wins at the Preakness Stakes.
Sierra Leone's jockey, Flavien Prat, has also had a fruitful career. Prat has wins at the Kentucky Derby in 2019 (Country House; after a DQ) and the Preakness Stakes in 2021 (Rombauer).
This will be Prat's first time racing with Sierra Leone. The horse was previously jockeyed by Tyler Gaffalione — including the 2024 Kentucky Derby.
