NHL Daily Fantasy Picks and Helper: Wednesday 12/6/23

NHL DFS is similar to MLB in terms of how you build lineups, how you view stacking, and how to value players.
Two main points to always focus on in NHL DFS are what lines the players are on and making sure the goalies you are rostering are confirmed as the starters.
Two of the best resources for that are LeftWingLock.com and DailyFaceOff.com. That is where you can find updated forward and power-play lines for each team, along with which goalies are confirmed as the starters.
Let's jump in and take a look at today's slate, find a goalie, some stacks, and some value plays for your NHL DFS lineups on FanDuel.
NHL DFS Picks
Goalie to Target
Logan Thompson, Golden Knights ($7,800)
We get a discount rostering Logan Thompson tonight, as his salary has fallen from the $8,600 it was on Monday in the same matchup.
The Vegas Golden Knights will be on the road tonight, unlike Monday, but they will face the St. Louis Blues again. Although Vegas may have lost, they allowed just 2.48 expected goals (xG) and eight high-danger chances in a game that went to overtime, according to Natural Stat Trick.
The Blues are in the bottom half of the league in goals per game, expected goals per game, and high-danger chances per game. They also have the lowest implied team total tonight, sitting at just 2.52 goals.
Thompson has been excellent so far this season. He's saved 9.67 goals above expected in 13 appearances. With the discount in a matchup that shouldn't scare us, he's a fairly easy click on Wednesday's slate.
Stacks
Tampa Bay Lightning
The Tampa Bay Lightning have had a strange start to the season. They are currently outside of the playoffs looking in despite being in the top 10 in goals per game.
Tampa has decided to load up their top line with their three best offensive players. Nikita Kucherov ($10,500) leads the league with 42 points, three more than any other player. Brayden Point ($8,500) isn't quite on the same pace as last season, but his 12 goals and 30 points are still very solid.
The new addition to this line is Steven Stamkos ($7,900). He'll play on the left wing and is also averaging more than a point per game. These three will play together on the top power play.
The Lightning will face the Pittsburgh Penguins at home tonight. Pittsburgh isn't a horrible defensive team by any means, but this first line would give any team trouble. Tampa has the highest implied team total of any team on this slate at 3.42 goals, so the oddsmakers don't think they will be slowed down.
It's hard to fit in all three of these guys with these high salaries, but we can find some value plays to get them into our lineups.
Florida Panthers
We'll be looking to stack the Florida teams tonight, as the Florida Panthers are our second stack of the night.
Sam Reinhart ($9,100) has been on fire to start the season, as his 16 goals lead the team and are tied for second in the league. He's playing on the top line and power play with Aleksander Barkov ($7,500). Barkov has 22 points in 21 games and is a pretty nice value at this salary. The other player in this stack is Evan Rodrigues ($5,400), who's fifth on the team with 16 points.
It's not an easy matchup against the Dallas Stars, but Florida produces the fifth-most xG per 60 minutes, so they will likely still be able to create chances. They have the second-highest implied goal total on the slate with 3.32.
Brandon Montour ($4,800) also makes a good addition to this stack. He's the power-play quarterback who had 73 points in 80 games last season, and his salary often exceeded $6,000.
Value Skaters
Sam Bennett, C, Panthers ($4,500)
The best value play comes from the Panthers' second line in the form of Sam Bennett.
Bennett hasn't been super productive since coming back from injury, with just four points in 12 games. He has an incredible role, however, playing with great wingers in Matthew Tkachuk and Carter Verhaeghe. He also joins forces with Tkachuk on Florida's first power play.
There aren't many players below $5,000 with a role quite as good as this, so Bennett can be used in all lineup formats tonight.
Connor Brown, W, Oilers ($3,100)
Things haven't worked out ideally for Connor Brown since joining the Edmonton Oilers. The hope was that he would connect with junior teammate Connor McDavid and recapture the magic they once had.
Since then, he's slid down to the second line. The good news is that he'll still have talented linemates in the form of Leon Draisaitl and Evander Kane, who can carry him to some production.
The matchup isn't ideal against the Carolina Hurricanes, but it's almost a necessity to play someone like Brown if you want to stack Tampa on this slate.
