MLB Seoul Series 2024: What to Know About the Dodgers vs. Padres Games in South Korea

We are just a few days away from the start of the 2024 MLB season, and this year’s first regular-season game will be the first of its kind. 

The MLB season will kick off as the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres play a series of exhibition games before the season-opener in Seoul, South Korea.

What Is the MLB Seoul Series?

The Seoul Series is part of the MLB World Tour, which includes regular-season and exhibition games to be played in international locations throughout 2024.

Aside from the Dodgers and Padres, four other teams will play overseas this season. These are:

Where Is the Seoul Series Being Played?

This series will feature four exhibition games and two regular-season games, all hosted at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. The stadium is currently home to the KBO club Kiwoom Heroes, who are scheduled to play an exhibition game against the Dodgers on March 17th.

Seoul Series Full Schedule

The Dodgers and Padres will face off in a regular-season series on March 20 and 21. They'll also play exhibition games against two Korean clubs, the Kiwoom Heroes and Korean national team, on March 17 and 18.

Seoul Series Key Players

Padres shortshop Ha-Seong Kim is returning to the Sky Dome, where he played for the Kiwoom Heroes from 2016 to 2020. Reliever Woo-suk Go also played in the KBO League, for the LG Twins, before joining the Padres in January of this year.

The Seoul Series will be the first time Shohei Ohtani makes his regular-season appearance as a Dodger since he signed a 10-year, $700 million contract with the team in December. It will also be the season debut for pitchers Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow, who recently joined the Dodgers bullpen.

How to Watch the Seoul Series

The two-game regular season series on March 20 and 21 will be nationally televised on ESPN and MLB.tv. The ESPN telecasts will be subject to local blackout restrictions in the Los Angeles and San Diego markets. In-market broadcasters will be Padres.TV and Sportsnet LA.
