Heat vs. Knicks Game 5 Analysis

The Heat were able to win both games of their homestand, bringing them to a 3-1 series lead over the Knicks.

Miami has found a way to bottle up Knicks All-Star Julius Randle, who is averaging 6.8 fewer points per game in this series (18.3) than he did over the regular season (25.1). They’ve also forced 1.5 more turnovers per game out of the Knicks’ star, which has certainly helped Miami's cause given how close most of the games have been so far; only one game in this series has been decided by double-digit points.

The Knicks will have to rebound after losing two in a row, and they can start by rebounding better.

In Games 3 and 4, the Heat out-rebounded the Knicks by an 11-board margin. The Knicks’ only win so far in the series came in Randle’s first game back from injury -- Game 2 -- in which they had a massive 50-34 lead over the Heat in rebounds. The Heat have countered Randle well in the two games since, and the Knicks will need to make an adjustment.

New York will also need better play off of the bench in Game 5 after their second unit scored just 10 points and finished with a combined -24 plus/minus as a unit in Game 4.
