Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Please note that betting lines and numberFire's projections may change throughout the day after this article is published. Also, the weather may be an issue in some locations.

Elias Pettersson To Score a Goal (+145)

The Vancouver Canucks are on fire to start the season and can continue that offense outburst tonight against the Ottawa Senators.

Through 12 games this season, the Canucks have scored a league-high 54 goals and are pouring in the offense every night. They are rocking a 3.35 implied goal tonight, which might not be high enough considering this matchup.

They are taking on the Senators, who are on the second night of a back-to-back and come in allowing 3.11 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the seventh-worst in the league.

We'll look to Elias Pettersson, who comes in with 6 goals, 15 assists, and 31 shots on goal in these first 12 games. As the center on the first forward line and the first power-play for the Canucks, he's consistently involved in their offense on a nightly basis.

He has just one goal over his last three games and with this type of matchup, he should have plenty of chances to find the back of the net.

Filip Forsberg Over 3.5 Shots On Goal (-102)

Filip Forsberg is a high-volume shooter and I absolutely love that.

With 46 shots on goal in 12 games -- 3.8 shots on goal per game -- Forsberg has the 13th most shots in the entire NHL. Without question, he is the best offensive player on the Nashville Predators, who are on the road to take on the Winnipeg Jets.

Forsberg has hit the over on this 3.5 shot prop in eight of his 12 games this season, or 66% of the time. He's coming off a game where he recorded just a single shot on goal, which is only the second time this season he's ended with fewer than three shots on goal in a game.

This sets up to be a bit of a bounceback spot for Forsberg, who is truly one of the most consistent players for shot props in the NHL.

Cole Caufield To Score a Goal (+135)

Cole Caufield? More like Goal Caufield.

The Montreal Canadiens' young forward has a knack for lighting the lamp and with his shot volume, he is always an option in the prop market.

The Habs are taking on the Detroit Red Wings, who are allowing 2.51 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is 16th in the league. While that's very average overall, the Red Wings are in the bottom 11 of the league in total goals allowed and total penalty minutes.

They are playing decent hockey in five-on-five situations, but take too many penalties, and allow goals on the power play. With Caufield skating the first forward line and the first power-play unit for Montreal, he will always be in a good spot to fire the puck on net.

In what shouldn't be a surprise, I'm also targeting Caufield since he's been held without a goal over his last five games. A total of 22 shots on goal in that time but no goals can change tonight with this matchup.
