Tyrann Mathieu Has Sights Set on Impressive NFL Record in 2020

The addition of Tyrann Mathieu proved to be huge for the Kansas City Chiefs defense in 2019. After an underwhelming 2018 season with the Houston Texans, the Honey Badger bounced back and was named a first-team All-Pro in 2019.
He's not planning on slowing down at all in the 2020 NFL season, either.
To reach the 20-sack, 20-interception club next year, Mathieu would need to rack up 3 interceptions and a whopping 11.0 sacks. Only 15 players in league history have hit both of those marks — with Karlos Dansby being the most recent to accomplish it when he secured his 20th interception in his final NFL season in 2017.
Already with 17 picks and 9.0 sacks through seven NFL seasons, Mathieu certainly has a real shot at joining the prestigious club before all is said and done. The idea that he could do it this year is a little far-fetched, however. To record 11.0 sacks would mean more than doubling his career total in just one season. In fact, he's only ever recorded even 11 tackles for loss once in his career.

Realistic or not, Chiefs fans have to love hearing this kind of confidence from one of their star defenders as the team prepares to defend its Super Bowl championship in less than a month.
