Monday Night Football Fantasy Picks: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for Rams vs 49ers in Week 10
By Larry Rupp
Week 10's edition of Monday Night Football features and exciting NFC West battle between the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers. FanDuel Sportsbook has the Rams slated as 3.5-point road favorites ahead of this divisional clash.
If you need some help with your fantasy lineups, here's some start 'em, sit 'em advice for this Week 10 MNF clash.
Matthew Stafford Fantasy
Start Matthew Stafford, QB, Los Angeles Rams: Matthew Stafford put together his worst fantasy football performance of the season in Week 9 tossing for 294 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. That shouldn't deter fantasy managers from starting him this week, though. The 49ers have posted the eighth-worst pass defense DVOA rating in the NFL and are allowing the third-most fantasy points to opposing QBs. Stafford has posted a career-high 68.2% completion percentage this season and knows how important this game is for the Rams' hopes of winning the division. Stafford is a rock-solid QB1 on Monday night.
George Kittle Fantasy
Start George Kittle, TE, San Francisco 49ers: It was a great return for San Francisco tight end George Kittle in Week 9. The fifth-year pro hauled in 6 of his 8 targets for 101 yards and 1 touchdown, finishing the week as the TE2 in fantasy football. Kittle looked like quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo's No. 1 target once again and played in an encouraging 73% of the offensive snaps. He should be in for big workload in Week 10 going up against a Rams' defense that has given up the seventh-most yards to opposing TEs this season (548). The 49ers are likely going to have to pass the ball to keep up in this game, which gives Kittle clear TE1 upside.
Odell Beckham Jr. Fantasy
Sit Odell Beckham Jr., WR, Los Angeles Rams: This one may come as a shock to some people, but it is important to look at the situation here. Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has been with the Rams for only a few days and now has to take on a 49ers' defense that is allowing the 11th-fewest PPR fantasy points to the position. He shouldn't be featured in a prominent role right away as Van Jefferson has proven he can be a reliable No. 2 WR. Beckham is averaging a career-low 38.9 receiving yards per game this season and is merely a desperation FLEX play this week. It would be smart to take the wait-and-see approach here.
Jimmy Garoppolo Fantasy
Sit Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, San Francisco 49ers: Jimmy Garoppolo has been on a bit of a hot streak throwing for over 300 yards in each of his last two games. However, he has thrown for just 8 touchdowns across his 7 starts this season and runs into a strong Rams' defense in Week 10. The Rams have posted the fifth-best pass defense DVOA rating in the NFL and are allowing the seventh-fewest fantasy points to opposing QBs. Garoppolo may be forced to throw a ton in this one if he is playing from behind, but it's worth pointing out that he 5 interceptions in his last five games played. Simply put, Jimmy G is not a viable streaming option against the Rams.
