The Chicago White Sox caught another brutal injury update on Tuesday, this time to elite closer Liam Hendriks. Hendriks was officially placed on the 15-day IL with a right forearm strain and will be on the mend for at least the next two weeks.

Hendriks caught up with White Sox reporters to discuss the new forearm strain, and revealed he's been playing through a major injury dating all the way back to 2008.

Hendriks declared he's had a tear in his UCL since 2008, but "it's been there and has been manageable." He discussed that his elbow has been more inflamed than usual throughout the year, all separate from his slight forearm strain.

It's hard to imagine the two aren't related, given the complexities of ligaments, tendons and muscles used to throw a baseball.

Regardless, this comes as a bit of a shock. Hendriks revealed this major injury as a means to relay that he's not concerned with the forearm strain. He'll be shelved for at least two weeks, and hopefully returns to Chicago's bullpen in full strength.

For now, the White Sox sit just 3.0 games back in the AL Central standings. FanDuel Sportsbook's MLB odds show Chicago with the second-best chances to win the division at +130, slightly behind the Minnesota Twins at +110.
