The Chicago Bears running back depth chart was hit with another surprising snag on Thursday after Damien Williams was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Williams' potential absence in Week 6 has huge implications for fantasy this weekend.

Damien Williams COVID Update

Prior to Montgomery's injury in Week 4, Williams operated as a clear-cut No. 2 option on Chicago's depth chart. He was thrust into the starting role in Week 5 and continued to show upside as a pass-catcher.

In Week 5, Williams racked up 84 total yards on 18 touches to go along with 1 touchdown.

Unfortunately, it looks highly unlikely that Williams can suit up for Week 6. His Thursday placement on the COVID-19 list leaves very little time to clear two negative COVID tests ahead of Sunday, regardless of his vaccination status.

Khalil Herbert Fantasy Outlook

Interestingly enough, third-string running back Khalil Herbert out-snapped Williams in Week 5. While Williams was the more productive option and took all of the red zone touches, the backfield depth chart faces another reshuffling against the Green Bay Packers.

If Williams is out, Herbert immediately becomes a very favorable waiver wire addition. He was already looking at an18-carry, 75-yard performance while splitting time with Williams. Now, he's primed to handle the majority of Chicago's rushing attack.

Chicago prepares to face a Green Bay defense that gives up an average of 24.84 PPR weekly points to opposing running backs. That ranks them 16th, right in the middle of the pack. But, Herbert should be a strong starting play given the amount of volume available.

Ryan Nall is the other running back listed on Chicago's depth chart. He's primarily worked only on special teams, making Herbert a must-add player this week.
