Calvin Johnson Reveals Aaron Rodgers Pitch to Recruit Him to Green Bay Amidst Ongoing Riff With Lions
By Zach Brunner

Labeled with the nickname "Megatron" when he dominated the NFL, it seems crazy that wide receiver Calvin Johnson will already be eligible for the NFL Hall of Fame in 2021. The superstar wideout stepped away from the game unexpectedly early and has since had a poor relationship with his former team — the Detroit Lions.
In an interview with the podcast "All the Smoke," Megatron revealed why his relationship with the organization is so rocky.

Following the 2015 season, Johnson decided to walk away from football, despite being one of the league's greats. He was just 30 years old. Johnson recalled that his body continually ached and the love for the game was no longer there.
When he retired, the Lions demanded he paid back some of his signing bonus from his eight-year extension in 2012. This is why Johnson no long affiliates himself with the Lions organization.
Johnson also recalled how Aaron Rodgers tried to recruit him to the Green Bay Packers.
"Whenever we played Green Bay, whenever Aaron Rodgers was over on our sideline, he would say, 'Hey man, you need to come on over here,'" Johnson said. "I said, 'Hey, I wish I could.'"
A Rodgers to Megatron connection would have almost been unfair, especially with Jordy Nelson and James Jones sharing the field with him.
