3 Best Offseason Moves From the Buffalo Bills
By Max Staley

The Buffalo Bills entered the offseason with a ton of cap space, and they've capitalized on that flexibility by making some big-name additions. Coming off a 10-6 finish and a postseason berth, the team could be poised to make a real leap in 2020.
So with that in mind, let's break down the Bills' three best moves of the 2020 offseason.
3. Signing Daryl Williams
The singing didn't get much attention, but Daryl Williams could be a great under-the-radar addition for the Bills. He signed a one-year deal with the team, making it a low-risk investment, and he's been excellent when healthy. In 2017, Williams received a 77.2 grade from Pro Football Focus. He missed most of 2018, and only finished with a 56.1 grade in 2019, but if he can get right he could prove to be a fantastic addition in Buffalo.
2. Letting Jordan Phillips Walk
Jordan Phillips was an excellent player for the team last season, but his production might've been a little fluky. He racked up 9.5 sacks in 2019, topping his previous career high of just 2.0. Sacks are a notoriously high-variance stat, and some of the underlying numbers (like a 60.2 pass-rush grade from PFF) don't suggest he's an elite pass-rusher. With the Bills' emerging star Ed Oliver playing the same position, not overpaying for Phillips, who received a three-year, $30 million deal with the Arizona Cardinals, was the right call.
1. Trading for Stefon Diggs
Not only is Stefon Diggs a top-flight receiver, he helps the rest of Buffalo's pass-catchers fall into more natural roles. Rather than being a slightly underwhelming No. 1 option, John Brown becomes an overqualified second banana. Similarly, Cole Beasley can maximize his talents as the team's third wide receiver and primary option out of the slot. The Bills paid a hefty price to acquire him (a first-round pick), but Diggs could put this passing game over the top.
