The Chicago Bears are reeling after a disappointing Week 1 loss and cannot afford to lose depth along the defensive line. However, that is exactly what is happening. Nose tackle Eddie Goldman's status has been downgraded to doubtful in Week 2 after he did not participate in practice on Friday.
Eddie Goldman Injury Update
Goldman was limited on Wednesday, but he has been on the sidelines ever since. The veteran playmaker looks poised to miss his second consecutive game due to a knee injury. It's expected that backup Khyiris Tonga or Bilal Nichols will be called on to start against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
Although this is Goldman's seventh season spent in Chicago, he has not seen any game action since the 2019 season. The 27-year-old opted out of playing during the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns. Overall, Goldman has racked up 153 tackles and 12.5 sacks across 67 career NFL games.
Chicago is looking to bounce back in Week 2, especially on defense. The Bears gave up 34 points and 386 total yards against the Los Angeles Rams, which were both well above their 2020 season averages.
The Bears are currently 2.5-point home favorites against the Bengals, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Chicago also has odds set at +600 to win the NFC North division.
