NHL Prop Bets

Connor McDavid To Score a Goal (+165)

With the Edmonton Oilers down 1-0 in the Stanley Cup Final, they need the best player in the world to bring some offense.

The home Florida Panthers came away with the win in Game 1, putting them in the driver's seat to start the series. However, it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows for the team from Sunrise, Florida. If we dig into some of the stats, we'll see...the Oilers played really well in Game 1.

Despite the scoreboard showing 3-0 as the final score, things were a lot closer than some may realize. In terms of total shot attempts, the Oilers held the advantage 70-42.

For actual shots on goal, the Oilers held the advantage 32-18. In High-Danger Scoring Chances, the Oilers were on top 18-6. And that all led to the Oilers having 3.74 Expected Goals Scored (xGF), to the Panthers at only 1.85 xGF.

The Oilers legitimately did everything right, they just didn't score. One of those players doing a bit of everything was none other than Connor McDavid.

The best player in the world ended with six shots on goal but wasn't able to find the back of the net.

Given the underlying "success" the Oilers had in Game 1 and the current (+165) odds for a goal, McDavid is a clear target to find the back of the net in Game 2 tonight.

Edmonton Oilers 1st Period To Record 10+ Shots on Goal (+112)

As noted above, the Oilers played well in Game 1 and have to keep that rolling to start Game 2.

The Oilers had the jump early posting 12 and 13 shots on goal in the first two periods respectively. That is the gameplan they should look to follow tonight, as getting an early jump on offense can help take the home Panthers' crowd out of it.

Everything I said above remains true here, with the Oilers having a really strong Game 1. They simply weren't able to find a goal.

Do I expect the shot attempt differential to be as drastic -- 70-42 -- as we saw in Game 1? No. But with a bit of desperation on their side, the Oilers should look to come out firing on all cylinders and get an early lead.
