Nuggets vs. Timberwolves Game 5 Analysis
With their backs against the wall on Sunday, Minnesota responded in a big way, winning a tightly contested Game 4 in overtime to avoid a sweep and extend the series. Now they face an even more difficult task: winning a game against a Denver side that has been elite at home this season. The Nuggets finished the regular season with the second-best home win percentage (82.9%), and they averaged 119.4 points per home game on a league-leading 51.4 FG%.
Jokic has been exceptionally elite at Ball Arena this season, where he averaged 2.5 more rebounds and 2.6 more assists per game than on the road. He posted a ridiculous league-leading plus/minus of +15.0 at home, compared to +3.4 on the road. Denver's dominance at home extends beyond their two-time MVP. They own the top three spots in individual plus/minus at home, with Aaron Gordon (+12.4) and Michael Porter Jr. (+11.5) behind Jokic, and four of the top five, with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (+10.5) sitting in fifth. Golden State Warriors's Andrew Wiggins (+10.9) is the only non-Denver player inside the top five.
Game 5 will be a challenge, but Minnesota has been decent on the road this season. Their 48.2% road win rate was eighth-best in the NBA and they posted a league-leading 49.6 FG% away from home, shooting 37.6% from behind the arc, good for fifth-best in the league.
