NHL Prop Bets
Victor Hedman Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-102)
The Tampa Bay Lightning get the second half of the season started versus the New York Rangers, a matchup of two high-quality teams.
Both teams are firmly in the playoff race and it should give us a close and slightly lower-scoring game. In January, both teams were in the top six of the league for the fewest Expected Goals Allowed (xGA), per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations.
While the over/under is set at 6.5, we may not see a ton of goals tonight, but there should be a decent amount of scoring chances.
This leads me to Victor Hedman, who is the defender on the first defensive pairing and on the first power-play unit. He ended the last 10 games before the All-Star break with 23 shots on goal, all while averaging the 13th most (24:31) time on ice per game.
Hedman has a high workload and should have plenty of chances to fire the puck tonight.
Morgan Rielly Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-118)
From one defender to another, with over 2.5 shots on goal for Morgan Rielly.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have a slate-high 3.39 implied goal and will look to exceed that versus the Dallas Stars, who are on the second night of a back-to-back.
Rielly is another defender who sees time on the first defensive pairing and the first power-play unit, which allowed him to rack up 32 shots on goal over his last 10 games.
For the entire season, the Maple Leafs come in with 61.73 Total Shot Attempts Created per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the 10th best in the league. They continue to have a high-octane offense and look to push the pace when they can.
Coming off a rough loss the other night, Rielly and the Maple Leafs should look to pile up the shots against a team that played last night.
