NHL Betting Picks, Player Props, and DFS Plays for Friday 11/10/23

A pretty stacked NHL Friday is ready to bring us into the weekend.
Whether it's moneylines, total goals, or player props, there are plenty of ways to bet on the NHL action all season long. It's a long 82-game season, meaning that the best selections of each night can be very different based on backup goalies coming into play, injuries that add up, and if teams are due for positive or negative swings.
There's also daily fantasy to jump in on, and with six games set for the slate, there are plenty of options for tonight.
Let’s take a look at which NHL odds are worth checking out per FanDuel Sportsbook.

NHL Best Bets
Carolina Hurricanes at Florida Panthers
Panthers +1.5 (-210)
In one of the premier matchups of the night, the Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers will face off.
We're taking the Panthers' side tonight as they'll be starting Sergei Bobrovsky against Carolina's Antti Raanta. Bobrovsky has had a fine start to the season, recording a 2.71 goals against average (GAA) and .904 save percentage. He hasn't overperformed by any means, putting together a 0.8 goals saved above expectation (GSAx). While not all that flashy, he has the advantage of Raanta, who has struggled for the most part. Raanta holds a 2.83 GAA, .876 save percentage, and -0.86 GSAx. The Panthers should be able to score to keep up with Carolina all night.
The Panthers are right behind the Hurricanes in Corsi For, recording a 69.08 Corsi For compared to Carolina's 72.52. Both teams have been stout on the defensive end, too; the Hurricanes having the lowest Corsi Against (47.39), and the Panthers having the sixth-lowest (54.1).
These teams are even against one another to the point that Florida should be able to keep pace and potentially get the win at home behind their goalie.
numberFire's model gives the Panthers a 75.34% likelihood of covering a one-goal spread tonight.
Calgary Flames at Toronto Maple Leafs
Maple Leafs ML (-156)
The 6-5-2 Toronto Maple Leafs have yet to put things together completely but should be able to earn a much-needed win tonight.
Toronto plays host to the Calgary Flames, a team that has also struggled greatly.
Both teams are top 10 in goals against per 60 minutes. The Maple Leafs surrender 3.54 while the Flames average 3.48. The major difference between these two teams is notching goals; Toronto is averaging 3.31 goals per 60 minutes (12th) while the Flames rank bottom 10 in the NHL with 2.65 goals per 60 (24th).
Each team will be sending out elite goaltenders in the early season. The Flames have Jacob Markstrom, and the Maple Leafs have Joseph Woll. Markstrom has posted a sixth-best GSAx (7.22) in the NHL, and Woll, on the other hand, has 3.87 GSAx through 8 games, ranking 17th in the NHL.
Seeing that the Flames have had a more difficult time potting goals, Woll should be able to keep pucks outside of the net as the Maple Leafs look to earn their seventh win of the season.
numberFire's model is in on the Maple Leafs tonight, giving them a 69.88% likelihood to earn the victory.
NHL Player Props
Alex Ovechkin Anytime Goal (+125)
It's been a rough start to the season for Alex Ovechkin, but one of the league's best goalscorers should find the net sooner rather than later.
The Washington Capitals captain has just two goals on the season despite averaging 4.09 shots on goal per game. He hasn't scored a goal in the last five games, making him well overdue. In those five games, he's put 18 shots on goal -- showing he is still able to get a comfortable amount of shots in his age-38 season.
Taking on the New Jersey Devils tonight, it presents a great chance to take advantage as they're allowing the fourth-most goals per 60 minutes (3.63).
At +125, we think it's about time Ovechkin gets his name back in the goal column.
William Nylander Over 3.5 Shots On Goal (-130)
When it comes to getting shots on net, William Nylander is as good as anyone at doing so.
Nylander ranks fourth in the NHL with 59 shots on goal. He's been able to put at least five shots on net in five of his last six games, giving us all the confidence that he can hit the over on 3.5 shots with ease tonight.
The Maple Leafs are in a position to have a back-and-forth game with the Flames. As their 12th-ranked Corsi For per 60 minutes (62.25) shows, they know how to get offensive opportunities throughout tonight's tilt.
As a high-volume shooter, we'll roll with Nylander, who has averaged 4.54 shots on a per-game basis. His consistency makes him one of tonight's best options of the six-game slate.
FanDuel Daily Fantasy Plays
Goalie to Target
Joseph Woll, Maple Leafs ($8,300)
No goaltender is set up for a better night than Joseph Woll.
The Maple Leafs' goalie has a 2.79 GAA and .914 save percentage in eight games, showing the consistency between the pipes that Toronto has long needed. His previously noted 3.87 GSAx is above the average in the NHL, signaling his ability to make big saves when needed.
Woll will be taking on the Calgary Flames, a great matchup for a DFS play. The Flames are seventh in the NHL in Corsi For per 60 (65.21). While they're able to get so many offensive chances, they've been unable to make them count (just 2.65 goals scored per 60), meaning plenty of saves for Woll.
numberFire's model has Woll as the highest projected goalie of the night at 24.7 FanDuel points -- 2.6 more points than the next-best goaltender.
Stack
Vegas Golden Knights
What's better than a matchup against the San Jose Sharks? A matchup with the Sharks in the second game of a back-to-back for them.
That's what the Vegas Golden Knights have walked into tonight. The Golden Knights are 11-2-1 while the Sharks just earned their second win of the season to move to 2-10-1.
San Jose ranks as the worst defense in hockey, allowing a 75.06 Corsi Against per 60 minutes. They're unsurprisingly allowing the most goals against (4.36), too. All signs are pointing up for the league-best Golden Knights to take care of business tonight.
Vegas blows away any other team tonight with their implied team total sitting at a sky-high 4.36 goals.
In terms of the players we are considering stacking from their lineup, it's best to start with Jack Eichel ($9,200) and Jon Audy-Marchessault ($6,200). Both of them play on the top line and the top power-play unit, giving them the marquee opportunities to score. Eichel is the top projected offensive player on the night, per numberFire and is expected to finish with 18.4 FanDuel points.
Shea Theodore ($6,700) and Mark Stone ($5,800) are good plays tonight, as well. They, too, take part on the top power play while playing second line minutes. Theodore averages 23:32 time on ice and has amassed 12 points in 14 games. He's one of the best options on defense. Stone has 4 goals, 9 assists, and 13 points, giving another quality option at a budget salary.
