Packers' Christian Watson addressing hamstring issues ahead of 2024
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson met with specialist this offseason to address the hamstring issues that forced him to miss 8 games in 2023.
What It Means
Watson reportedly met with specialists at the University of Wisconsin this offseason to determine the root cause of his hamstring issues, which cost him practice time last offseason and played a part in limiting him to 9 games in 2023. Through the study, the talented former second-round pick discovered an apparent disparity in muscle mass between his legs.
Watson told ESPN's Rob Demovsky that he spent the offseason addressing those issues, and was recently a full participant in the Packers' first OTA sessions of the offseason. We'll need to wait and see whether his health holds up for a full season, but this is our first sign that the speedy wideout is on the right track.
The Packers' wide receiver group showed surprising depth while navigating Watson's off-and-on availability, but Watson did seem to be the priority target when he was available. In his final 3 games of the regular season, he corralled 14 passes for 186 yards and 4 touchdowns. If he can stay healthy for a full season, he'll have a chance to become a top-notch fantasy football producer in 2024.
