Cardinals place Willson Contreras (arm) on injured list Wednesday

Contreras will undergo surgery Wednesday to repair the fracture and is expected to miss 6-to-8 weeks. The Cardinals called up catcher Pedro Pages from Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding roster move. He will start in Wednesday afternoon's series finale against left-hander Jose Quintana and the New York Mets. Ivan Herrera will operate as the primary catcher while Contreras is out, but he will start at designated hitter on Wednesday.
