MLB SGP Bets
Baltimore Orioles at Miami Marlins
Gunnar Henderson to Record 2+ Total Bases (+100)
Anthony Santander to Record an RBI (+125)
Combined Odds: +295
Edward Cabrera has massive strikeout upside whenever he takes the mound for the Miami Marlins as he ranks in the 88th percentile in whiff rate (31.1%) and 84th percentile in strikeout rate (28.1%) through eight starts. At the same time, Cabrera is in the fifth percentile in xERA (5.47), fifth percentile in walk rate (13.1%), first percentile in barrel rate (13.6%), and third percentile in hard-hit rate (47.7%).
Additionally, Cabrera is permitting a whopping .442 wOBA, 2.29 WHIP, and 3.97 HR/9 to left-handed hitters this season. This makes Gunnar Henderson and Anthony Santander enticing players to target from the Baltimore Orioles in this game.
Henderson is sporting a .415 wOBA, 175 wRC+, and .304 ISO against right-handed pitchers this year. The talented shortstop has also tallied two-plus bases in two of his first four games out of the All-Star break.
Santander is currently on a nine-game hitting streak, registering at least one RBI in four of his last five outings. The switch-hitting outfielder is also rocking a .361 wOBA, 138 wRC+, and .295 ISO versus right-handed pitching.
The only concern with targeting Cabrera is the fact he issues walks often, which could limit the number of at-bats Henderson and Santander receive. That being said, it's worth noting that Henderson is carrying +500 odds to hit a home run while Santander has +400 odds in the same market.
Chicago White Sox at Texas Rangers
Nathan Eovaldi Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-156)
Josh Smith to Record an RBI (+170)
Combined Odds: +326
Nathan Eovaldi has been a pitcher who delivers quality starts consistently for the Texas Rangers, and he faces the hapless Chicago White Sox on Wednesday. Across 17 starts in 2024, Eovaldi has pitched at least 6 innings in 10 of them, giving him an increased chance of achieving his strikeout prop.
Jon Gray -- who is in the 30th percentile in strikeout rate (19.7%) -- went 7.2 innings with 5 Ks during Tuesday's win over the White Sox. Aside from Eovaldi posting six-plus Ks in four of his last seven starts, Chicago has the second-lowest wOBA (.271), lowest wRC+ (72), fifth-lowest ISO (.132), and fourth-highest strikeout rate (25.2%) against right-handed pitching in the last 30 days.
Chris Flexen is expected to be on the bump for the White Sox, and he's giving up a .371 wOBA, 1.41 WHIP, and 2.32 HR/9 to left-handed hitters. With those metrics in mind, Josh Smith has a solid chance to record an RBI for the Rangers.
Smith is boasting a formidable .364 wOBA, 135 wRC+, and .183 ISO versus right-handed pitchers this year. On top of that, Smith is logging a .242 ISO or higher and a .421 wOBA or higher versus both of Flexen's two primary pitches (four-seam fastball and cutter) against left-handed batters.
Given Flexen's tendency to surrender hard contact to lefties this season, Smith is being given +560 odds to hit a home run.
Arizona Diamondbacks at Kansas City Royals
Ryne Nelson Under 3.5 Strikeouts (-132)
Michael Wacha Under 4.5 Strikeouts (-152)
Bobby Witt Jr. to Record 2+ Total Bases (-175)
Combined Odds: +323
Neither starting pitcher in Wednesday's game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Kansas City Royals is known for racking up Ks at a high clip. Michael Wacha ranks in the 43rd percentile in strikeout rate (21.3%) while Ryne Nelson is in just the 12th percentile in strikeout rate (17.0%), and both of these teams excel at avoiding strikeouts.
Nelson has reached five-plus Ks in each of his last three starts, but the Royals have the sixth-best wOBA (.336), eighth-best wRC+ (115), eighth-best ISO (.191), and lowest strikeout rate (17.5%) versus right-handed pitchers in the last 30 days. Considering how well Kansas City's offense has performed recently, it's tough to envision Nelson pitching deep enough to have a chance at four-plus Ks.
Even though Wacha has tallied five-plus Ks in four of his last five outings, the Diamondbacks are registering the 9th-best wOBA (.330), 10th-best wRC+ (113), 5th-best ISO (.198), and 4th-lowest strikeout rate (19.6%) against right-handed pitching over the last 30 days. Wacha has gotten five-plus strikeouts in only 9 of his 17 starts in 2024.
Bobby Witt Jr. is arguably the hottest hitter in baseball right now, and Nelson is producing reverse splits on the mound. Witt has recorded two-plus bases in all five of his games since the All-Star Game -- with three-plus hits in four of those contests -- and Nelson is allowing a .371 wOBA, .500 SLG, and 1.66 WHIP to righties.
Witt also owns a .387 wOBA or better against Nelson's two primary pitches (four-seam fastball and slider) versus right-handed hitters. Ahead of Wednesday's Diamondbacks-Royals clash, Witt has +400 odds to hit a home run.
