MLB Same Game Parlay Bets for Thursday 6/20/24

Baltimore Orioles at New York Yankees

Cole Irvin Under 4.5 Strikeouts (-162)
Anthony Volpe to Record a Run (-170)
Giancarlo Stanton to Record 2+ Total Bases (-150)

Combined Odds: +279

Cole Irvin has seen an uptick in strikeouts in back-to-back starts for the Baltimore Orioles. Following a six-strikeout performance versus the Tampa Bay Rays, Irvin logged eight Ks in his most recent start against the Atlanta Braves.

Despite Irvin's recent surge in the strikeout department, he is still in just the 27th percentile in chase rate (26.0%), 4th percentile in whiff rate (17.4%), and 22nd percentile in strikeout rate (17.9%). Besides tallying five-plus Ks in only five of his 11 starts this season, Irvin will face a New York Yankees team that has the 10th-lowest strikeout rate (20.3%) against left-handed pitching.

Irvin has been getting hit plenty in recent outings, allowing eight-plus hits and multiple earned runs in three straight starts. Regardless of whether or not Aaron Judge suits up for the Yankees, they have plenty of pop in their lineup to excel at home.

Along with fading Irvin's strikeouts prop, we'll back Anthony Volpe to record a run. Volpe is amid a three-game hit streak and is coming off a three-hit performance while scoring a run in five of his last eight appearances.

Giancarlo Stanton has long been a hard-hitting righty who can do plenty of damage versus southpaws. Stanton has been swinging a hot bat as he's currently on a seven-game hit streak that includes four multi-hit outings and three homers.

With warm weather and winds blowing to right at Yankee Stadium, Stanton is being given +210 odds to hit a home run.

Milwaukee Brewers at San Diego Padres

Bryse Wilson Under 3.5 Strikeouts (-178)
Jake Cronenworth to Record an RBI (+130)

Combined Odds: +225

Bryse Wilson is another starter who doesn't typically rack up Ks at a high percentage and who has taken advantage of positive matchups in recent outings. After logging four-plus strikeouts versus the Cincinnati Reds and Detroit Tigers -- both of whom have strikeout rates of 24.5% or higher against right-handed pitching -- in back-to-back appearances, Wilson is set to make his ninth start for the Milwaukee Brewers this season in Tuesday's showdown versus the San Diego Padres.

Even with his recent success, Wilson ranks in the 7th percentile in chase rate (22.7%), 20th percentile in whiff rate (21.0%), and 28th percentile in strikeout rate (18.8%). Across his eight starts in 2024, Wilson has achieved four-plus strikeouts in only three of them.

Getting strikeouts against the Padres is easier said than done as they boast the second-lowest strikeout rate (18.6%) versus right-handed pitchers. San Diego has just two players (Manny Machado and David Peralta) in their projected lineup for Thursday's contest who have a strikeout rate of 23.8% or higher against righties.

Considering that Wilson is permitting a .404 wOBA, 1.84 WHIP, and 2.16 HR/9 to left-handed hitters, compared to a .235 wOBA, 0.86 WHIP, and 0.00 HR/9 to right-handed hitters, we'll want to focus on the lefties in San Diego's lineup. Among the left-handed bats on the Padres, Jake Cronenworth is a threat to record an RBI.

Cronenworth is sporting a .359 wOBA, .225 ISO, and 139 wRC+ with just a 17.6% strikeout rate when facing right-handed pitchers. Hitting cleanup behind Luis Arraez and Jurickson Profar should give Cronenworth a couple of RBI opportunities on Thursday.
