MLB Same Game Parlay Bets for Monday 6/3/24

Milwaukee Brewers at Philadelphia Phillies

Zack Wheeler to Record 6+ Strikeouts (-310)
Bryce Harper to Record 2+ Total Bases (-110)
First 5 Innings Result: Philadelphia Phillies (-165)

Combined Odds: +259

Zack Wheeler has had a few disappointing outings this season for the Philadelphia Phillies, but the right-handed ace is still sporting a formidable 3.20 SIERA and 3.16 xFIP through 12 starts. Aside from logging the highest strikeout rate (29.0%) of his career since 2021, Wheeler is also recording the highest swinging strike rate (13.7%) of his career.

Strikeouts haven't been an issue for Wheeler, who is also in the 83rd percentile in chase rate (32.2%) and 73rd percentile in whiff rate (28.7%). With Wheeler notching six-plus Ks in eight of his 12 starts thus far, we'll take him to rack up six-plus strikeouts versus the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday.

While the Brewers are around league average with the 15th-highest strikeout rate (23.2%) against right-handed pitching, they have the 3rd-highest CSW percentage (29.0%) this year. Wheeler is also tallying a 30.7% strikeout rate at home, compared to a 26.3% strikeout rate in road contests in 2024.

It appears Bryse Wilson will take the mound for the Brewers, putting the left-handed bats of the Phillies in a premier position entering the matchup. Bryce Harper is the left-handed bat we'll want to focus on in this SGP as he is posting a .394 wOBA, .282 ISO, and 158 wRC+ versus right-handed pitchers.

Harper is being given +300 odds to hit a home run to begin the week.

Being that we're placing confidence in Wheeler and Harper -- and the other Philly bats -- to take advantage of Wilson early, we'll back the Phils to secure a lead in the first five innings. Wheeler has been credited with a win in six of his last eight starts, and the Phillies have been ahead at the end of the first five frames in three of their last four contests.

Cincinnati Reds at Colorado Rockies

TJ Friedl to Record a Run (-160)
Ezequiel Tovar to Record a Run (-140)

Combined Odds: +215

The next SGP will feature the Cincinnati Reds and Colorado Rockies in a matchup at Coors Field on Monday. The two projected starters for the contest are Andrew Abbottand Ryan Feltner, which is why this game owns a healthy total of 11.0 runs on FanDuel sportsbook.

By fading both starting pitchers, we'll side with the batters from both teams, beginning with TJ Friedl. Even though Friedl's numbers against right-handed pitching aren't ideal to begin the season, he has a hit in two of his three games back from a stint on the injured list, and he's recorded a run in back-to-back contests.

Additionally, Feltner is allowing a .370 wOBA, .504 SLG, and a 1.58 WHIP against left-handed batters this year. Considering that Friedl will likely bat leadoff for the Reds, the chances of him scoring are solid with Feltner's forgettable splits versus lefties.

On the flip side, Ezequiel Tovar draws a favorable matchup against Abbott. Tovar is notching a solid .333 wOBA, .444 SLG, and 101 wRC+ when going up against left-handed pitching, and he's scored a run in five of his last eight appearances -- including four multi-hit performances in that span.

Abbott is permitting a .326 wOBA, 4.97 xFIP, and 1.91 HR/9 versus right-handed batters. Similar to Friedl, Tovar is projected to bat leadoff.

San Diego Padres at Los Angeles Angels

Matt Waldron Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-146)
Los Angeles Angels Alternate Total Runs: Under 4.5 (-210)
Jurickson Profar to Record a Hit (-230)

Combined Odds: +220

Pitchers who throw a knuckleball often are rare nowadays, but Matt Waldron of the San Diego Padres is one of them. After tossing his knuckleball just 26.7% of the time in 2023, Waldron is throwing the same pitch 37.4% of the time this season, generating a 29.9% whiff rate and 27.1% putaway rate in the process.

With Waldron leaning on his unorthodox primary pitch, he's tallied six-plus Ks in four consecutive starts. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Angels are registering the 11th-highest strikeout rate (23.0%), 5th-lowest wOBA (.287), and 4th-lowest wRC+ 83) in the last 14 days.

FanDuel Research's Riley Thomas loves Waldron's matchup to the point where he's taking the knuckleball pitcher to rack up six-plus strikeouts on Monday.

Along with banking on Waldron to generate plenty of swings and misses versus the Angels, we'll pair that with Los Angeles to score fewer than five total runs. Waldron has given up two or fewer earned runs in four straight outings, and the Angels have produced fewer than five runs in 10 straight games.

Lastly, we'll round out this SGP with Jurickson Profar to record a hit. Tyler Anderson is slated to be on the bump for the Angels, and he's allowed six-plus hits in three of his last five starts.

Against left-handed pitching, Profar is recording a .409 wOBA, .203 ISO, and 174 wRC+. The recent form is also ideal for Profar, who has gotten at least one hit in five of his last six games.
