Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing MLB projections -- which are powered by numberFire -- as a guide, here are some MLB player props bets that look appealing via the MLB odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Best MLB Player Props Today

Grayson Rodriguez Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-120)

Grayson Rodriguez has had an up-and-down season for the Baltimore Orioles, pitching to a 3.86 ERA across 20 starts.

The ERA indicators (3.74 xERA; 3.57 xFIP; 3.60 SIERA) are a bit kinder, and G-Rod ranks 17th among qualified pitchers in K% (26.5%) and 11th in swinging-strike rate (13.6%).

That ability to rack up whiffs is something I'm looking to target tonight with over 5.5 strikeouts coming in at -120 odds on FanDuel.

For the season, Roriguez has notched at least six strikeouts in 15 of 20 starts. That includes his most recent outing when he punched out eight against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Rodriguez gets another crack at Toronto tonight. Though he recorded just four strikeouts the last time he visited the Rogers Centre, our MLB projections peg G-Rod for 6.3 strikeouts tonight.

The Blue Jays have only a 20.4% K% against righties for the season, but that's ticked up to 22.3% since the All-Star break. Their overall whiff rate is 10.2% over that stretch, so Rodriguez is in a better spot than you may think to go over 5.5 strikeouts.

J.D. Martinez To Record an RBI (-115)

Most players enjoy a trip to Coors Field. Per Statcast Park Factors, the Colorado Rockies' home park is the single-best venue for hitters, after all.

But J.D. Martinez really likes playing at Coors. Across 17 career games in Denver, Martinez has blasted seven home runs and racked up 22 RBI en route to a 1.154 OPS.

So, with his New York Mets sporting the night's highest implied total (6.25) at Coors, Martinez is someone to target in the player prop market.

Today is Dinger Tuesday, so we can certainly consider his home run odds (+310). But I've got my eye on J.D. Martinez to record an RBI at -115 odds.

J.D. has been up to his usual tricks this season, sporting an 88th-percentile xwOBA (.360), 88th-percentile xSLG (.493), and 94th-percentile barrel rate (15.2%).

With the vet serving as New York's primary No. 3 hitter against lefties, that's helped him rack up 52 RBI in 82 games. He's running a .383 wOBA versus southpaws while the Mets as a whole have baseball's fourth-highest wOBA (.334) in the split.

Consequently, there should be ample opportunities for Martinez to drive in a run against lefty Kyle Freeland.

Freeland hasn't been someone to fear this season, pitching to a 5.64 ERA with lackluster ERA indicators (5.19 xERA; 4.19 xFIP; 4.34 SIERA). He's also allowed a .345 batting average with runners in scoring position, paving the way for Martinez to record an RBI tonight.

Lawrence Butler To Record 2+ Total Bases (-110)

Oakland Athletics outfielder Lawrence Butler has been on an absolute tear since the All-Star break. Over his last 16 games, the lefty is batting .349 with four home runs while averaging 2.2 total bases per game.

He's quietly put together a strong season, sitting in the top-9% league-wide in expected wOBA on contact (.452) with an 81st-percentile barrel rate (12%).

That sets him up well to take advantage of a soft matchup with the Chicago White Sox and to record 2+ total bases.

Jonathan Cannon is the probable starter for the Sox. Though he's coming off his best start of the year, the righty's season-long numbers leave a lot to be desired. Through 11 starts, Cannon has a 4.11 ERA and 1.27 WHIP. His ERA indicators (4.21 xERA; 4.52 xFIP; 4.68 SIERA) aren't any better -- nor is his 15.8% K%.

That could lead to another big night for Oakland's leadoff hitter. Butler's been especially effective against righties, sporting a .340 wOBA and 125 wRC+ in the split.

In an advantageous matchup, Butler can stay hot and record 2+ total bases tonight.
