Positional Breakdown

Forwards/Midfielders

You'll notice the three players with the highest salaries are all listed as game-time decisions, so we'll have to dig into some injury news and pay attention an hour before kick off.

It looks like Michael Olise ($23, +500 anytime goal-scoring odds) is going to play in this match, and he's an option despite the goal-scoring odds being fairly long and his team being an underdog. His form has been excellent, as he's averaged 45.62 FanDuel points per game in his last five games. That includes 26.2 points against this same opposition without a goal contribution.

Ollie Watkins ($21, +115) is one of my favorite plays on the slate. He has the third-best goal-scoring odds for any player, and he faces bottom-of-the-league Sheffield United, who also have conceded the most expected goals (xG). Watkins is not only a goal scorer this season, as he's tied for the most assists with eight.

Callum Wilson ($20, -105) has the best anytime goal-scoring odds on the slate. He might not be able to go 90 minutes as he returns from injury, but he still can be rostered in the hopes he will score a few goals before getting substituted.

It's been over two months since Evan Ferguson ($19, +155) scored a goal in the Premier League, but he has a good chance of doing so here. He'll face a Crystal Palace team that has conceded the seventh-most goals in the league. He might have a chance to take penalties too if Joao Pedro misses this game.

Danny Welbeck ($17, +200) is also a credible play for Brighton and can be stacked with Ferguson.

Around the same salary range, Leon Bailey ($17, +230) gets the favorable matchup against Sheffield United and has both a decent chance to score and will get crosses. A similar case can be made for Miguel Almiron ($16, +195).

Moussa Diaby ($15, +195) is one of the best values on a team we'll want to target in Aston Villa. His salary is low because he hasn't been accumulating shots or crosses, but in this game, he'll have a chance for multiple goal contributions. He's scored four goals and assisted four in 18 starts this season.

Added time -- Fulham and Burnley's match is projected to be a low-scoring one. I wouldn't target guys who need a goal to make value in this match, but there are a few players who I'm interested in rostering.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson ($13, +270 to score or assist) has been taking the majority of set pieces for Burnley of late. On Fulham, Willian ($16, +175) is the player who I'll want to target, as he can rack up crosses and shots. Both players are capable of meeting value without a goal or assist.

Defenders

Kieran Trippier ($16, +140 to score or assist) remains one of the most valuable defenders in EPL DFS. He has taken nearly all of the set pieces for Newcastle this season and is tied for the most crosses in the league. His odds of contributing to a goal are comparable to most forwards and midfielders, so using $16 on him isn't crazy by any means.

Either Brighton wingback makes sense in their match. Pervis Estupinan ($14, +260) was a fantasy star early in the season, but you shouldn't sleep on young Jack Hinshelwood ($12, +280), who has scored two goals in 11 games. That's impressive for a defender, and Hinshelwood loves to get forward.

Even with his team being big underdogs, Alfie Doughty ($13, +360) is a crossing machine that we can roster. He's tied with Trippier for the most crosses, and Newcastle aren't particularly strong defensively. They've allowed the fifth-most xG in the Premier League.

Alex Moreno ($11, +310) is one of the best values at full back on a favored team, and he has 16 crosses in his last three matches. On the other flank, Ezri Konsa ($9, +700) is expected to fill in, and while he isn't much of an attacking player, he's worth playing if you need the savings.

Added time -- Some center backs on that we can play in the hopes of racking up clearances and blocks are Gabriel Osho ($11), Amari'i Bell ($10), Hjalmar Ekdal ($10), and Diego Carlos ($9).

Goalies

Martin Dubravka ($14) hasn't been great this season, but he has the best odds to win and faces a team with the third-lowest xG in the league.

His chances to win aren't as good, but Emiliano Martinez ($13) is likely a better overall keeper and faces the lowest-scoring team in the league that also has the fewest xG.

James Trafford ($10) is a talented young keeper who will face a Fulham team that has failed to score in five of their last six matches. Trafford kept a clean sheet away to Fulham when these teams met in December.

Added time -- I don't mind taking a chance on Thomas Kaminski ($7) for Luton, especially if Callum Wilson is out of the lineup. They simply wouldn't have the firepower that would scare me off using a keeper for this low of a salary, and he could rack up a lot of saves if Newcastle lack a cutting edge in their finishing.
