Today’s Best College Basketball Predictions, Picks
Missouri -2.5 (-110)
Missouri vs. Saint Louis — 7:00 p.m. ET
Spread
Missouri got its season off to an explosive start with a 111-50 victory over Cleveland State, setting program records for points scored and margin of victory in a season opener. Freshman Jason Crowe Jr. immediately established himself as a dangerous offensive weapon, finishing with 23 points on 9-of-16 shooting, including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc.
Saint Louis should present a much more difficult challenge, particularly after making a program-record 379 three-pointers last season. The Billikens may even have Robbie Avila as he was cleared to play.
But Missouri's athleticism and ability to create scoring opportunities in transition should give the Tigers an advantage.
With Crowe providing another dangerous scoring option and Missouri coming off an outstanding offensive performance, the Tigers look capable of covering the short spread.
UConn -7.5 (-110)
Michigan vs. UConn — 8:00 p.m. ET
Spread
UConn opened its season with a dominant 86-46 victory over Gardner-Webb, holding the Runnin' Bulldogs to 25.5% shooting while winning the rebounding battle 46-28. The Huskies also owned a 42-10 advantage in points in the paint, demonstrating the interior dominance that has become a trademark of Dan Hurley's teams.
Braylon Mullins led UConn with 20 points while Nik Khamenia added 14 and Na'jai Hines contributed 12 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks. That combination of perimeter scoring and interior production should help the Huskies against a Michigan team that defeated them 69-63 in April's national championship game.
Michigan is certainly capable of keeping this competitive, but this Wolverines squad lost a lot of talent from last season, including a trio of first-round picks.
UConn's defensive intensity and rebounding should provide an advantage. The Huskies also have experience playing at TD Garden, where they've won three consecutive games.
Stanford -14.5 (-110)
Oakland at Stanford — 10:00 p.m. ET
Spread
Stanford opened its season with a 74-65 victory over Eastern Washington, using a balanced offensive attack that featured five double-digit scorers. Freshman Julius Price led the way with 17 points while Aidan Cammann added 13. The Cardinal also received an impressive defensive performance from Aziz Olajuwon, who recorded six steals.
Stanford held Eastern Washington to 42.6% shooting overall and 26.7% from three-point range. Meanwhile, the Cardinal shot an impressive 74.6% on two-point attempts, highlighting their ability to generate efficient looks inside the arc.
Oakland enters Friday at 0-1 and faces a difficult road assignment against a Stanford program coming off consecutive 20-win seasons. The Cardinal's combination of length, interior efficiency, and defensive pressure should create opportunities to pull away at Maples Pavilion.
I like Stanford to cover as 14.5-point favorites.

College Basketball Betting FAQ
What is a point spread in college basketball betting?
A point spread gives the favorite a handicap that it must overcome for a bet to win. For example, if a team is listed at -6.5, it needs to win by at least seven points for a spread bet on that team to cash. An underdog listed at +6.5 can lose by six points or fewer, or win the game outright, and still cover the spread.
What does the over/under mean in college basketball?
The over/under is a sportsbook's projected combined score for a game. Bettors can wager on whether the two teams will combine for more points than the total (over) or fewer points than the total (under). For example, a game with a 148.5-point total would need at least 149 combined points for an over bet to win.
What is a moneyline bet in college basketball?
A moneyline bet is a wager on which team will win the game outright, regardless of the final margin. Favorites typically have negative odds, while underdogs have positive odds. Unlike a point-spread bet, a moneyline bettor does not need the favorite to win by a certain number of points.
Is home-court advantage important in college basketball betting?
Yes. Home-court advantage can be particularly meaningful in college basketball because of travel, crowd noise and the familiarity teams have with their home environments. The impact varies considerably by program, though, so bettors should consider the specific teams involved rather than applying the same home-court adjustment to every matchup.
