Celtics vs. Hawks Game 5 Analysis
After splitting a pair of high-scoring games in Atlanta, this series returns to Boston with the Celtics looking to close out the Hawks at home.
The Hawks were much more effective on offense in the friendly confines of State Farm Arena, averaging 125.5 points per game, second-most of any home team in the playoffs thus far.
On the road in Games 1 and 2, they averaged 102.5 points per game, the ninth-most for away teams this postseason. To have any chance of stealing Game 5 in Boston, they will need to stay hot on offense, and they will have to do so without Dejounte Murray.
Murray has been Atlanta's second-leading scorer this series, averaging 25.3 points per game. He leads the Hawks in minutes played (38.2) and is second in rebounds (7.3) and assists (5.8). His absence is a massive issue for Atlanta to overcome.
Including the regular season series, Boston is a combined 3-0 against Atlanta at TD Garden. Including the postseason, the Hawks are 17-26 on the road this season.
To send this series back to Atlanta for a Game 6, the Hawks will need someone to step up to fill the void left by Murray's absence and for Trae Young to have a tremendous game. If Boston comes to play, they might need both.
