Brewers vs. Rays Prediction Today: MLB Picks and Props for World Series Game 5

Rays-Brewers World Series Game 5 Picks in Summary

  • Rays Moneyline (+130)
  • Jacob Misiorowski Under 5.5 Strikeouts (-106)

he Tampa Bay Rays kept their season alive with a dramatic extra-inning win in Game 4, and they'll try to send the World Series back to Milwaukee on Wednesday night.

The Milwaukee Brewers will turn to Jacob Misiorowski in Game 5, but there are reasons to be cautious about backing the ace righty. That also makes Tampa Bay an intriguing home underdog.

Here are two bets I like for Brewers-Rays Game 5.

MLB Prediction, Picks: Rays vs. Brewers World Series Game 5

Rays Moneyline (+130)

The starting pitching advantage clearly favors the Milwaukee Brewers with Misiorowski on the mound and the Tampa Bay Rays still piecing together their pitching plan, but I'm willing to take the plus money on the Rays.

Tampa Bay showed in Game 1 that it can put the ball in play against Misiorowski. The Rays managed four hits and one run across five innings against him while striking out only three times.

That's important because Tampa Bay's contact-heavy approach can help neutralize Misiorowski's biggest weapon. The Rays have also already demonstrated an ability to extend games against Milwaukee's pitching staff, and the Brewers had to use seven pitchers during Tuesday's 12-inning loss.

That doesn't eliminate Milwaukee's pitching edge, but it makes +130 an appealing number for a Tampa Bay team playing at home with its season on the line.

I'll back the Rays to force a Game 6.

Jacob Misiorowski Under 5.5 Strikeouts (-106)

Misiorowski's regular-season strikeout numbers are elite, but his postseason production hasn't been nearly as dominant.

He has recorded 14 strikeouts across 13.1 playoff innings, and he finished with only three strikeouts over five innings against Tampa Bay in Game 1.

Misiorowski has also yet to work beyond five innings in any of his three postseason starts. He went four innings in his first playoff outing, 4.1 innings in his second and five innings in Game 1 of the World Series.

Tampa Bay is a difficult opponent for this particular prop because of its ability to make contact. The Rays' projected lineup carries a strikeout rate around 19%, and several hitters near the top of the order are especially difficult to put away.

There's also some workload context worth considering. Misiorowski is approaching 190 combined regular-season and postseason innings, and Wednesday will be only the seventh start of his MLB career on four days of rest. Given Misiorowski’s decline in Ks in the postseason, the huge workload may be wearing on him.

Even if Milwaukee gives him a slightly longer leash after taxing its bullpen Tuesday, Misiorowski still likely needs to be extremely efficient to get to six strikeouts against this feisty Tampa Bay offense.

After Misiorowski struck out only three Rays in Game 1, I'll take under 5.5 strikeouts at -106.

MLB Betting Frequently Asked Questions

What are MLB player prop bets?

MLB player prop bets are wagers on specific statistical outcomes tied to individual players during a game — not on which team wins or loses. You might bet on how many strikeouts a starting pitcher records, whether a shortstop gets a hit, or how many total bases an outfielder accumulates.

Because they are isolated to a single player's performance, props let you apply focused knowledge about matchups, recent form, and ballpark conditions rather than predicting the full game result.

What types of MLB player props are available?

FanDuel offers a wide menu of MLB props. The most common categories include:

  • Pitcher strikeouts
  • Batter hits
  • Home runs
  • Total bases
  • RBIs
  • Stolen bases
  • Pitcher outs recorded

How do MLB player prop bet odds work?

MLB prop odds use the standard American (moneyline) format. A negative number shows how much you must wager to profit $100. A positive number shows how much a $100 bet returns in profit.

  • -110 odds — bet $110 to win $100
  • +130 odds — bet $100 to win $130
  • -200 odds — bet $200 to win $100

What does "total bases" mean as a prop bet?

The total bases prop counts the bases a batter earns from hits in a single game:

  • Single = 1 base
  • Double = 2 bases
  • Triple = 3 bases
  • Home run = 4 bases

Walks, hit-by-pitches, and stolen bases do not count. A typical total bases line is set at 1.5 or 2.5. Betting over 1.5 means you need at least a double, or two singles.
