The Philadelphia 76ers have opened the season 3-1 while the Indiana Pacers enter Wednesday at 2-2.

Indiana has also struggled against the number early in the season, starting 1-3 ATS. Philadelphia has been the more reliable team overall, and laying fewer than five points gives us a manageable number on the road.

The Pacers' offense still has plenty of upside, but this is a difficult matchup against a Philadelphia team that has started the year looking like one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference. It certainly doesn’t help things that Indiana will be sans Ivica Zubac (ankle) in this clash with Joel Embiid.

Give me the Sixers at -4.5.

Joel Embiid to Record a Double-Double (+100)

Player Double Double

Speaking of Embiid, his double-double prop stands out at even money.

Embiid is averaging 21.7 points and 9.7 rebounds through his first three games, and he already posted a 28-point, 11-rebound triple-double against Milwaukee in his most recent appearance. He also comes into tonight without an injury designation after sitting out Philadelphia's last game for plantar fasciitis management.

Zubac being out clears the path for Embiid to go off. Zubac averaged 10.6 rebounds per game last season and is the Pacers' most important interior defender and rebounder, so his absence should leave Indiana more vulnerable around the basket.

The scoring half of this bet shouldn't be much of a concern for Embiid — who is -1200 to score at least 15 points — so rebounds are the key. With Zubac sidelined and Embiid coming off an 11-rebound effort, I like these odds for the former MVP to notch a double-double.

NBA Betting Frequently Asked Questions

What is the point spread in NBA betting?

The point spread is a handicap applied to the favored team to level the playing field. For example, if the Lakers are -6.5 against the Celtics, the Lakers must win by 7 or more points for a bet on them to pay out. A bet on the Celtics wins if Boston wins outright or loses by 6 points or fewer.

What does the moneyline mean in NBA betting?

A moneyline bet is a straight-up wager on which team wins — no spread involved. Odds use American format: a favorite is listed with a minus sign (e.g., -180), meaning a wager of $180 would win $100. An underdog carries a plus sign (e.g., +155), meaning a $100 bet would return $155 profit.

What is an over/under (total) bet in the NBA?

FanDuel will set a projected combined score for both teams. You bet whether the actual total points will go Over or Under that number. For example, if the total is 224.5, an Over bet wins if both teams combine for 225 or more points.

What are NBA player props?

Player prop bets focus on individual statistical performances rather than game outcomes. Common NBA props include points scored, rebounds, assists, three-pointers made, steals, and combined stat lines (e.g., Points + Rebounds + Assists). You bet whether the player goes Over or Under the sportsbook's posted line.
