3 FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks for Monday 6/17/24

Stacking is an integral part of daily fantasy baseball. Correlation drives upside, giving your lineups a slate-winning ceiling when your stacks explode.

This piece will do the digging and the dirty work each day to determine which stacks are worth rostering on FanDuel's main slate. While we want upside, we also need to factor in game theory, especially in a sport as random as baseball.

The MLB DFS heat map at numberFire is a quick way to get a feel for the overall slate and which offenses are in a good spot. You can also check out our daily fantasy baseball projections -- which are powered by numberFire -- to identify the slate's best bats.

Let's look at the top stacks for today's main slate.

MLB DFS Stacks

Philadelphia Phillies

Implied Total: 5.31 | Opposing Pitcher: Randy Vasquez

The Philadelphia Phillies sit atop the National League standings, and while their pitching has been fantastic, the offense isn't far behind.

Against right-handed pitching, Philly ranks above average in both wOBA (.314) and wRC+ (103). They'll face a righty today who they can definitely do damage against.

Randy Vasquez has struggled for the San Diego Padres this season. He's allowed a 4.41 SIERA and a 5.95 expected ERA (xERA). His barrel rate against is 9.7%, and a 38.1% hard-hit rate.

Lefties have feasted on Vasquez this season. It's a small sample, but he's allowed a .513 wOBA and a .259 ISO against left-handed hitters.

That makes Bryce Harper ($3,700) and Kyle Schwarber ($4,000) the top targets in the Phillies lineup. Harper leads the team with a 148 wRC+ against righties, and Schwarber has a .205 ISO in this split. Despite not having the platoon advantage, Alec Bohm ($2,900) has a 146 wRC+ against RHP this season.

We'll have to wait to see if Trea Turner ($3,600) returns to the lineup as he comes off the IL today. If he bats second, he's a good option to add to this stack. If he doesn't, Nick Castellanos ($2,900) may hit in the two hole, which would make him a good fourth bat in this stack.

The Phillies have the highest implied team total outside of Coors Field tonight and are a great pivot off of the teams in Colorado.

Chicago Cubs

Implied Total: 5.12 | Opposing Pitcher: Jordan Hicks

The weather at Wrigley Field has a huge impact on stacks. With the wind blowing out like it is today, we'll want to stack the Chicago Cubs.

The Cubs will face a decent pitcher in Jordan Hicks. His 3.86 SIERA doesn't scream that he's a pitcher to target. He has allowed a 41.7% hard-hit rate and a 7.8% barrel percentage.

With a 97 wRC+ against righties, Chicago isn't normally a team we like to use against them. However, a few of their hitters do have good numbers in this split, and that's who we'll target.

Chicago's best hitter against righties is Seiya Suzuki ($3,300). He has a 132 wRC+ and .354 wOBA against them this season. Cody Bellinger ($3,300) leads the team in ISO against righties with .197. Mike Tauchman ($2,800) and Ian Happ ($3,500) are above average in wRC+ and wOBA against righties, making them good options for their salary.

The salaries on these players are all affordable, making this the team to stack if you want to get a top pitcher. If we get lucky with a few wind-aided homers and a nice outing from a stud on the mound, it could go a long way to helping us win a tournament.

Los Angeles Dodgers

Implied Total: 6.68 | Opposing Pitcher: Cal Quantrill

We're burying the lede a bit here by leaving the Los Angeles Dodgers at Coors Field for the last stack. They are an offense we like to target on any slate, so this environment is just fantastic for them.

They'll take on Cal Quantrill tonight. Quantrill, like most pitchers, hasn't been too effective in Coors Field. He has a 4.49 xFIP and a 36.0% fly-ball rate at home.

The Dodgers suffered a blow to their lineup when Mookie Betts got injured on Sunday. That doesn't mean they aren't loaded with bats we want to stack. Shohei Ohtani ($5,100) continues to destroy righties this season, to the tune of a 204 wRC+ and a .373 ISO. Freddie Freeman ($4,100) isn't far behind with a 187 wRC+ in this split.

Betts' injury allows Teoscar Hernandez ($4,400) to move up in the lineup and continue his hot run. He's better against left-handed pitching, but he still has a very good 128 wRC+ without the platoon advantage. Will Smith ($4,000) is the same way with an above-average 103 wRC+.

This stack will be hard to fit into lineups, but if there ever was a spot to use a lot of salary on a stack, this is it.
